Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by 911radioman on 06/03/06 at 16:07:24 The problem you'll have with a full size tank bag is that it will obscure your speedometer. Currently I have a full size Nelson Rigg, and can't even use it on the bike if I want to be able to track my speed. Here is one that I'm going to pick up soon. The measurements should work with our speedo setup. http://www.newenoughhp.com/nelson_rigg_mini_magnetic_tank_bag_page.htm Here is another one that is pretty interesting as well. http://www.newenoughhp.com/tour_master_cortech_super_mini_magnetic_tank_bag_page.htm |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by starmom on 06/03/06 at 18:00:36 i really like the mini..........I wonder if that would work well and still allow visability of the speedometer? which are you gonna get? Let me know? |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by 911radioman on 06/03/06 at 18:10:19 I think either one would work. One is about 1" longer than the other. I put that I was interested in the Nelson Rigg bag, but actually I like the TourMaster bag a little better. |

Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by starmom on 06/03/06 at 19:51:25 so the magnetic thing, is that REALLY ENOUGH? or would the strap on version be better? |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by 911radioman on 06/04/06 at 05:41:07 I've never had a magnetic mount come loose. They have pretty strong magnets in them. |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by starmom on 06/04/06 at 06:01:57 All this is new to me and my experience is "zero" so thanks for your knowledge and experience with all matters including this one! I like the idea of the magnet, because I would not use this type bag all the time but for those days that Im going somewhere even locally that I dont know my way, having the ability to put those directions/phone numbers in a place that is visable is an awesome thing. I went to visit a friend on the bike last week and I had only been out to her house once, she lives out in the country, and it was a pain to stop and then try and get her on the cell cause I wasnt sure where to turn. She origionally told me like make a left and then 2 rights failing to tell me i had to go awhile to a stop sign for the first right, so here i am in this neighboorhood that didnt look famililar, callin her. Of course I was out on the bike and it was a last minute thing to go visit her, so i was not prepared. Live and learn.........I guess |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by 911radioman on 06/04/06 at 06:07:52 You're absolutely welcome! :) The magnetic bags have a "soft covering" that keeps the magnets from scratching up your paint as well. I like them, I just need to pick one up for the Savage. My last bike was a GZ250 and I ran a huge tank bag on that bike, as it had a 4 gallon tank on it. |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by azjay on 06/04/06 at 06:55:27 a 4 gallon tank on a gz250? thats like a month long supply of fuel ;D |
Title: Re: Tank bag, anyone have/use one on their savage? Post by 911radioman on 06/04/06 at 07:15:02 Yeah, its the one thing I miss on that bike. If only the Savage came stock with that... :( I think the tank size on the GZ was like 3.8 gallons. |
