Title: Problems removing the front heat shield
Post by cstout on 05/22/06 at 19:24:35

My apologies up front if this question has been asked before (I did a preliminary search and found nothing.)

I was trying to get my exhaust pipe off.  However, when trying to remove the front heat shield by removing the two nuts, the studs (they appear to go into the engine block) just turn.  I kept turning them thinking the studs were threaded into the engine block and would eventually come out, but I think I could turn them all night to no avail.

Anybody run into this before?

They are bolts. they run all the way through to the other side. Grab 2 wrenches, and turn. ;D

:D It's alright I'm laughing with ya, i think.

But it reminds me of something about those bolts. If mine aren't tight I get a small oil leak right near they end of one on the shifter side of the bike. So make sure they are good and tight when you put it back together.
