Title: Saturday wrenching. Post by Brewbrother on 05/21/06 at 17:23:15 I spent today doing my list of Savage Mods plus an oil change. The sportster slip on was a piece of cake, under 30 minutes. K&N drop in filter less than 5 minutes. Iridium plg, spark plug door, and spacer mod 2 hours 30 minutes. Compared to my CB this bike is a breeze to wrench. The factory setting for the air/fuel mixture screw was half a turn from closed. I did a 2/3 spacer removal. I used a bastar*d file and rubbed it with my finger till it hit my mark. The spark plug read showed a lean condition. The final air screw turn was 1.5 out. After I adjusted the idle to a nice 900-1000 rpm range it just sounded awesome. My brother listened and remarked that it cams better than a sportster. The only draw back is that it backfires going from second to third. I suspect the sportster slip on muffler. Anyone care to venture a guess?? |

I removed 2/3 of the spacer. I figured that on the exhaust leaks but fauiled to consider the intake. Strange it only does it from 2nd to 3rd gear. |
