i have 2995 mi. on my 2005 s40. and the front beakes are really crap. could they be gone already. Looking at the gage is hard to tell. Any help?

Mine didn't last that long. The factory pads wear fast.

When I got the bike it had 1640 miles on it and I had to replace the front pads at around 3000 miles or so. I used sintered metal pads as I didn't see any ceramics available. I now have about somewhere between 6500 and 7000 miles on it. Since I last changed mine, others on this site have located the ceramics and I bought some for the next changeouts of either front or rear but it may be a little while as both still look pretty good.

at 2550 , brake on my S40 is like 3/8 " left :o

guess I was lucky or not hard on 'em, over 3500 mi. inside pad, lining was paper thin.

I replaced my stock OEM brake pads just last week at around 4600kms ... they weren't far off of toast ... put on new SBS ceramic pads ... I hear they're supposed to be pretty good!

Yup. The front brake pads last almost as long as spit on a hot summer sidewalk in Texas. Also be sure to check the brake fluid level often!

There are 4600 miles on my 2001 and the brakes are fine. I'm not sure if the PO had them replaced. Are your rear brakes worn out as well. I seem to do better than most people with brakes as I enjoy using the braking action of the engine.
