Title: Status Report
Post by John Himmelberger on 04/16/06 at 10:30:24

Hey Guys!

If you have been here for any length of time you should have noticed two things:

1. We have a GREAT community of people here.
2. The vast resource of information on your Savage.

We are continuing to grow by leaps and bounds.  Which is a testament to the two points above.  We have done all this without experiecing the "Growing Pains" that most sites experience.  (Nevermind the 'post' problems from the other day...)

I wanted to give a big thanks to Sluggo & Savage Rob for all their hard work over the last few months.  The forums would not be safe without them.  ;-)

Awhile back I added a 'Make a Donation' link in hopes to avoid this post.  While I do appreciate the donations that have come since then, they are few and far between.

I have only asked for support one time in 3 years.  This will mark the second time.   If you are compelled to help out, you can use the link at the top of the page 'Make a Donation' It will further explain how you can help.

I have enjoyed serving you guys and gals over the last 3 years and look forward to the next 3 years!

the mysterious johnh

Happy to chip in - and hope enough is raised to keep the popups and ads away :)

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to update you on the progress of the donations thus far.

We are 1190 members strong and growing and have raised $260.00  That works out to be around .21 cents a member.  I would personally like to thank those of you who have contributed so far.

I would like to encourge those of you who have not done so to consider helping out.

I will donate as soon as I am able to.  I would be interested in knowing a ball park figure of what it takes to keep this great site going just as it is, per month or whaterver is eaiser.  I would do it now but I have spent all my spare funds on fixing up and buying upgrades for the savage

The cost of running this site is very reasonable.  I colocate a server and the savage share is about $30.00 per month.  We are currently running on 3 year old hardware and it is showing signs of needing to be replaced.  Our hardware expenses over the last three years have been around $1200.00 most of which was the initial purchase of the server.

Thanks for the inquiry.

How close are you to breaking even??

Hey there, found you via Kiwi Biker Forums downunder. Am researching S40 with a view to buying second hand. May I ask a question? How is the ride for a taller person? I'm 6ft 1ins. Are there any tall riders out there who can give me some thoughts? Would be much appreciated. Thanks from a cold longboarder in Kiwi land.  ;)

Okay.  At 30 bucks a month and 1190 members, according to my math, that's like 3 cents per member per month.  If everyone gave 5 bucks a year that would pay for the site and for a new server.  Yup, in the "real world" I'm a tech weenie. :D

I get paid tomorrow and will shoot what I can your way.

Thanks for the great site.

Does this site need a dedicated server?

I have three dual Xeon servers that I will let you put this on for real cheap. They are rock solid servers. I am not looking for money really just would like to help take the burden off ya if possible.

Shoot me an email or PM.
