Title: Talking between riders
Post by TVRacer on 03/20/06 at 14:14:59

Has anyone got or used a headset setup where you can talk between 2 motorcycles?

If so, how is the noise with the Savage?

Tom

I use the ChatterBox FRSX2 and I LOVE it. The VOX function is pretty much useless with my pipe, as I have a screaming eagle. I use the push to talk and it works great. My Father and all my friends have been using it for years.

I see that the unit is around $200.  Is that what I would spend for my bike and then my brother would have to buy his own unit for the @$200?

yeah Tom - $200 a bike, but the kit will be good for 2up riding.

I've just bought a rider to pillion intercom for a whopping 8 Euros i.e.about 10$ but as Mrs.B hasn't yet dared to try the back of The Lettuce, its still in the box.  Even if it turns out to be a piece of junk I wasn't going to lose much at that price.  Incidently, rider intercoms both rider-to-pillion and bike-to-bike are illegal here in Spain but pefectly legal across the border in Portugal, 10 minutes away.

180+ views, but very few replies, although my question has been answered... thank you :)

So now I'd like to hear the other side of the story.  There must be those of you who do not agree or think it's dangerous to talk between bikes.

If so, I'm open to hearing why :)

I've never used the devices before.  However, the 180+ views are certainly not 180+ individuals.  Personally, I try to catch up on each thread that's been modified since I last read it.  I've probably hit this thread four times so far.  Also, every time you modify a post or even hit the refresh button on your browser, it pegs another view.  Wanna have a popular thread?  Just keep hitting the refresh button!

I also come and check every time something has changed, that being said I have looked into the chatterbox system, the only drawback is that fact that you have to have a buddy buy one as well, at 250.00 per pop, will not buy until I convince one of my riding freinds to buy one as well, then I think the rest would come aboard very quickly. ::) or so I hope.

Went to the bike show today, seen a booth titled head to head comunication, they are selling products from a company called imc motorcom needless to say with my friend there we both bought the most expensive set (wife says I am not allowed out with money anymore ;D)  it allows you to hook up with your passenger a fellow rider who has the setup, pipe in your mp3 or music of choice and have your cell phone hooked up, as you listen to the music it gets overridden by the cell and the rider to rider functions.  if you search for imc motorcom you will find this company I have the mit-100 system in about a month I should be ridding and will report back on its worth,  also must supply your own 2 way radio for it to work.

jbird,  reminds me of the movie "Don't Tell Her It's Me" with Steve Guttenberg where he rides a Harley and says "I ride alone".  You'd have to see it to know what I mean.

Hawkeye, yes, report!!

I hear that!  Not only do I talk to myself, I usually wind up answering myself too!  :o

I was looking into this too and 250.00 was too expensive even for 2 bikes!  Im cheap!  So me and my friend were just going to get some two way radios and some headset action.  I think u can get some that dont require a FCC license (under 10 or 8 miles I think).

But his bike blew up and he is still rebuilding it.

Somebody, a regular on this site but I can't remember who it is, has the strap line "Singing silly songs to myself in the privacy of my helmet".  I love that .... and do likewise.

That's all fine and dandy. Just don't get into an argument with yourself.
