Title: bobber seat redux_redux
Post by sluggo on 03/20/06 at 13:20:22

here's the latest mod to thumper. springer seat gone, now mounted to frame.  i still have the springer set up for the really long trips.

it really lowers the seat position for us short legged people.

thats a little o.c.c. tool bag for a bicycle on the fender to hold bungee's and the like.

you can get the seat for 35 bucks here http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/chopper.htm

i've got the shocks set to softest. the seat is comfortable, as its ergonomicaly correct to fit the behind. that's what i considered to be the original seats problem didn't form fit to butt.

I really like the look of that seat!  I'm just not ready to commit yet.  Maybe once I have a year in on my '06.  Thanks for posting the source!

thing is though, seat looks way to small with a full rear end. i believe you can find a 12 in version .

i got the seat second hand from jon d, as he wasn't pleased with the looks. it's been mounted several different ways, i'll try this for awhile.

The seat looks alright, although I liked the sprung seat better. But that little bag has to go!! I'm not crazy about fork bags, but I think that would be better looking than that silly little bag. And O.C.C. ? Exile is where it's at. And a little more suiting to your awesome bike.
Keep up the good work.

i did the bob job before i knew of exile, but i like the comparison, the bag was a joke thing for bicycles my wife picked up at wally word, it's now gone and in it's place a leather patch (to cover several holes).  after staring at it for while tonite i fond a way to spring the front and middle, while not raising the seat signifantly

here's today's version. i found a method to place the springs forward, and secured on the back.

I like the new look Sluggo, but I'm not ready to go that path yet...  :P  maybe in a few years, after I grow old enough...  ;D

Best,

You're THE man Sluggo. That new seat looks 100% better without that bike bag. Best looking Savage I've seen by far. If that were my bike (and I wish it was), I'd be sticking a SE slashcut muff on there, and call it done.
Well OK, I would have to puts skulls hidden in every nook and cranny, but that's just my style.

Awesome work!!

Looking Way cool Sluggo !!   Makes me want to go in search of a set of GN400 fenders !!  Amazing how the lack of turn sig. cleans up the look ......

trial and error, several times this past year.  this one looks to be the one.  the rear seat mount and upper fender mount are two assemblies that use the previous mount holes for rear fender.  the front springs are in line with centerline. i fabbed a sheet metal plate to fit the curve of the frame and cover wirining, which supports the front.
