Title: Installed new progressives! Post by Bobster on 03/09/06 at 21:47:15 They do ride better. Now if i could figure out the constant back firing, i'd be straight. It acts like im getting air in the exaust. The sportster muffler is welded and not leaking. But i cant hear or feel any leak from the header gasket area. I even used smoke around it . ??? |
Title: Re: Installed new progressives! Post by lancer on 03/09/06 at 22:10:11 If you are satisfied that the exhaust is not leaking then look at the seal between the carb and the engine. If that is not leaking then your carb needs jetting/tuning. |
Title: Re: Installed new progressives! Post by Savage_Rob on 03/10/06 at 07:06:01 I'd still bet on the header to cylinder head gasket. I saw no evidence of a leak either (except for the backfires) but once I replaced the gasket all was well. Part #2 on this fiche at RonAyers.com (http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/300_0271/muffler/muffler.cfm?man=su&groupid=7190&parent=7080)... $3.58 + S/H. |
Title: Re: Installed new progressives! Post by bikingb on 03/11/06 at 04:48:20 Thanks Rob, I'm going to order the gasket today. I'm backfiring, or after firing since I have the new supertrapp. But only in the lower gears when I let off of the throttle. |
