Title: I have no explanation!!
Post by Brewbrother on 03/07/06 at 17:34:37

At least thats what I told my wife. My seven mile ride home from work took 3 hours and a refill of the tank. It was a very different riding experience than my CB would have delivered. I especially enjoyed the effortless passing in any gear. The thumper made me yearn for more time in the saddle. Tomorrow is another day....to ride.

I get lost on known paths myself fairly often - it happens

I was very pleased. Hurricane raved beaches make for intresting scenery.

Ah yes -- the notorious Savage Wander (http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=RubberSideDown;action=display;num=1125279448) problem.  It is quite common.  It appears to be weather related.  While other mention that their bikes get skittish in the rain, the Savage actually improves and manages to head straight home.

When people brag about their HP compared the to Savage's wimpy 30 or so they neglect to mention that the HP is a peak while the big single has a very broad torque band that, as you note, pulls effortlessly from the judder point and up.

I've got a mokey on my back and I like it. A lot.

With the weather warming the way it is, the WANDERING VIRUS has apparently come out of hibernation and once again is attacking us without mercy. ;D

i had a case of savage wandering also today.  jumped on thumper to get a missing ingredient for recipe, ended up riding 50 miles to a market.  100 mile round trip for a can of mushroom soup.   ::)

I fear that this insidious disease will sweep the world...any one of us could start out on an innocent trip and just wake up WHO KNOW'S WHERE?

Of course, there are worse things that could happen to us...like my Savage won't start in the first place.

I guess here in the southwest we don't get enough cold weather to cut down on the infection rate because it's a year-round plague here.  It's a little odd though, there seem to be two strains.  The first is the one that afflicts me and and seems to be the same as has been described here recently and in previous posts...  causing route deviations/extensions and such.  I've witnessed another that appears to usually strike on weekends with fair weather whose symptoms include short routes to coffee shops and bars followed by lots of sitting and looking at the bike.

Living in the subtropics makes riding all year possible. Our winter, if you want to call it that lasts about 2 weeks. May get into the twenties. It was 55 this morning and got up to around 77. Perfect weather.

No helmets needed in this area. Just the thump and rush of the wind.
