Maybe its the acme of foolishness but describe what you do when you start the bike. step by step. To include what you do prior and after the engine idling. The reason being that since its starts all the basics are obviously present. |
Title: Re: Starts but dies Post by Steve530 on 03/07/06 at 18:24:49 I think we're going to need more information to be much help. For example, does it start back up right after it dies or does it take a while before it will start again. |
Title: Re: Starts but dies Post by upcountry on 03/07/06 at 23:56:41 From a cold start ..choke on hit starter. Bike fires up strong, then after about thirty seonds dies. starts again strong but dies. If i try to roll on a little bike dies also. When the bike starts i push the choke to half. All this with petcock on main. |
Title: Re: Starts but dies Post by Kropatchek on 03/08/06 at 01:11:50 Oke, this gives us more to work on. You have fuel and spark, so that's allright. Don't push in the choke to early. Let it run for a minute os so. When you play with the throttle, does it rev-up? Maybe the idle RPM is a little too low. Adjust to 1000-1100 RPM when engine has warmed up. Tip: Spell petc0ck with zero i.s.o. an O, that's to confuse the spellchecker Greetz Kropatchek ;D |
Title: Re: Starts but dies Post by Hammy211 on 03/08/06 at 03:56:49 Turn up the idle. There is a finger twist knob on the carb. You should be able to let off the choke without it dying within a minute. |
