I am the new owner of an 05 S40 and so far have been satisfied with it's performance. It suffers from some of the same problems some of you have with the 'back firing'. Glad I found this site and hope you don't mind answering a few basic questions because I'm 67 yrs young and starting with this S40

Congratulations and welcome!

You can start by perusing the Tech Ref forum and paying particular attention to Mid-Range Power & the White Spacer (Backfire) and anything with carb in the title.

Standard starting advice: please read the posting guidelines in each forum before posting.
