Title: Super Brace on it's way
Post by pgolden on 02/25/06 at 07:26:01

I sold enough stuff on E-bay to get my Super Brace. I ordered it yesterday. $147.20 delivered from cyclesolutions. I know I could have gotten it cheaper, but I needed to use up a Paypal balance. I should have it mid week. I will install it and report on the improvment if any.

You'll definitely see an improvement.  Try some uneven surfaces, especially rain grooves and such.

pgolden,

Good idea. Sell stuff you don't want or need and buy stuff you want all with Paypal. Kind of like bartering.

I looked at their website, but didn't find a listing for the Savage.   Did you just ask for it?  Alos is there a cheaper place to buy the superbrace?

I-bike.com has them for 125.00 plus shipping
The model # is 3335, I think.

Yeah that's were I got mine for my Fathers savage and my intruder....they were very easy to work with

Your really going to see an improvement with that brace on. My fathers savage was getting pretty shaky above 55mph and now I take it up to 75mph and it is rock solid.

HDI, did you get the progressive 4232's to go with it?

Ordered mine today and maybe have them here in 10days or so. Also got the fork protectors ($23/pr). More chrome, not black plastic!
;D

Actually, they're polished stainless but they work pretty well and I think they look good too.  You did good to order them at the same time.  Otherwise, you pay the flat $10 shipping fee twice.

I got the SB today, installed it and hit the road for a test.
My bike drove perfectly before the brace and I can't tell any difference with it installled. I like the looks, but I see no difference in the handling. I feel like I have added a nice cosmetic chrome piece at a premium price.

On relatively smooth road, there is little or no difference.  The difference is at speed with rain grooves and uneven surfaces.

Nope didn't get them yet. So far my father seems to be pretty happy with the way it is riding with the modifications and repairs that I have completed so far.

I'll give him a little more time with it and then see about making that change  ;)

He is very happy with the brace, but keep in mind that his ride was a very rough when you got to 50mph or more and the brace smoothed it out completely for him (well up to 80mph, haven't taken it any further yet).

The brace, the carb rebuild with the K&N filter and the supertrapp pipe have made a lot of difference in performance and ride....that and the Metzler ME880 tires he has on it....the savage is running real good right now  ;D

Grumble, grumble!
>:(
I-Bike says that the Superbrace is still on back-order (3 weeks so far) and won't be available for another 3 weeks. I give. Maybe I can use those funds for some other bling. I asked them to cancel my order. Too bad. Maybe there are still some on eBay.
Think I will take my oversize "Savage" bags to saddle maker and see if he can shrink them and add strap between the two bags. These bags are another of the frustrations in getting parts for this bike.
Lots of folk riding this past week, even in rainy weather. Most out here just going thru.

Superbrace blames the back-order on this site, and everyone wanting one. They say they still have back-ordered the brace, but not for 6 weeks. Seems there was a big call from Savage riders after the brace was touted here. Gee, did we know this site had so much influence?
Isn't that something?
:-)

Heck, you'd think they might wanna make a donation to the site in hopes it would continue to generate business.

on my favorite ford ranger site , RPS (RangerPowerSports) we have over 33,000 members and we've got most aftermarket companies by the balls ;D

yeah u think superbrace could shuck out something for the owner of this site John.  Have you ever drove over some pavement that the road workers have worked on recently and it looks like a million straight and parallel groves in it?  When I drove over that stuff it was a little wavy and it made my front jerk this way and that by riding in the grooves.  Pretty scarry even at only 40 mph.   Do u think its because my front tire is bald (stock gag)?  Or do I need to get a superbrace too as well as a front tire?

Those types of surfaces are where I see the most noticeable improvement with the Superbrace.

I wonder what the status is on that other potential fork brace for the Savage... Oh yeah, here it is. (http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=RubberSideDown;action=display;num=1140376490)

Broke down and ordered mine off eBay from cyclesolutions today. The site said they had them in stock. Both i-bike and the factory said currently on back order for 2-6 weeks. I rode to work yesterday and it was 40 and the raised spots on the road from the tar in the cracks had the front tire wobbling. So hope this works as advertized.
Temp warming out here to 75 now.
Need to ride.

Mumble, mumble. Cycle solutions also blames the high interest in the brace for the Savage on the LS (this one) forum. They also are saying 3-5 weeks even though they showed that they had 9 in stock.
Guess it will be May before I get mine. Good thing I am going to the beach for 3 weeks (St Lucia). Might try to rent a bike there and try left hand of the road riding.
Oh well. As they say.

I found a seller on eBay selling Superbraces for a 2001-2002 Savage. Seller has 8 available. Link. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3335-Superbrace-Suzuki-Savage-LS-650-2001-2002_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6755QQitemZ4614844384QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

Any ideas whether this would fit my 2005 S40?

It also has the 3335 part number mentioned by pgolden in post #4.

Cheers. Tammi

I ordered from them (cyclesolutions) when they said that they had 9 in stock. And I got a reply that it was on back order 3-5 weeks. A bit of false advertising, don't you think?
Especially on eBay, and when they say that they have them in stock.
>:(
I left my order open with them and will see just how long it takes to really get the brace. Then I will let eBay know about it, and see if they remain a Power Seller.
It really irritates me that they say that the brace is in stock and it's not.
Bill

below is their note after I did a "buy now" on eBay.
---------------------------------------------------
William,
We wanted to let you know that we received your order and that there is a 3 to 5 week backorder on this Superbrace. SuperBrace is a hot topic in the LS forums and have created a huge run that we did not anticipate.
3335 Superbrace - Suzuki Savage LS 650 2001-2002
I will keep you posted on when this item ships.

Oops. I need to read through these threads more carefully.  :-[

Anyway, does anyone know if the #3335 will fit on a newer Savage/S40?

Cheers. Tammi

It fits my '98 perfectly and the only difference I'm aware of is the recent addition of some fork seal protectors that I think I heard were made of plastic and could be removed.  Those would need to be removed but otherwise the brace should fit.  Superbrace also sells some stainless fork protectors that attach to the brace.  They seem to be nearly as proud of those as the brace itself as they command a price of $25.  However, if you plan to purchase them, you should probably order them at the same time as the brace and only pay the $10 S/H charge once.

I just got this email from Superbrace:

Good Afternoon and after some research, the Suzuki Savage LS 650 SuperBrace #3335 will fit the 2006 S40. You can order it directly from your local dealer or directly from us through www.superbrace.com or 800-322-4783. Be sure to order part #3335 as the description has not been updated yet in the system.

Safe Riding,

SuperBrace – the Ultimate Fork Stabilizer

I expect it'll fit the '05 and '07 S40's as well.
