Title: Headlight upgrade
Post by 911radioman on 02/11/06 at 10:15:43

Went to WallyWorld yesterday and picked up a pair of H4 Xenon headlamps for the Savage.  Got home, switched the halogen bulb out with the Xenon and then waited until night so I could try it out.

I must say, there is a HUGE difference between these bulbs!  The Xenon is a very white light and the range of vision as compared to the stock halogen just cannot be compared!

Yup.  Cheap and easy safety upgrade.

For my SR500 project I have a Cibie spot light that has main and dip, they were originally designed for kit cars.

I know this is a dumb question.  But, I thought that there was only one headlight on the Savage.  There must be two lamps in there.   I'm assuming you took it apart and put new bulbs in or something.  How did you know what to get at Wal-Mart no less.

No, there is only one bulb.  Just bought a pair to have a spare handy. :)

H4 is the type of bulb the Savage takes.

Has anyone installed one of these bulbs ? (see below.)
My question is: I think the factory installed bulb is 35W and I would guess that these bulbs are 55W. So will the standard Savage wiring be suffcient to accomodate the additional 20 w's of power?  Thanks ~S
--------------------------------------------------------------------
H4/9003 Super White bulbs as shown in original factory sealed box.

- Bulbs are 4500K, 12V and 100W Input Power

- This item works on any vehicle which lightbulb application is H4/9003.

If you are running a 100 watt bulb in the all plastic headlight, you are looking for a melted headlight.

I kind of like this headlight design, it is called the WAVE HEADLIGHT.  I think it is very cool looking.

It is just $79.95 in the Jireh Cycles catalog.
Part # 8-315 or 316 depending on a clear or blue lens.
