Title: Chopper Kit Done!
Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 18:17:28

I finally got my front end on, It took a little time to do it right but I have to say I could not have done it without the hoghunter, He's done this before and that helped. Istill have to bleed the brakes.I only took a small ride byt I'll ride more tomorrow.

Here a few pics I just took,I'll take better ones this weekend.

Triple trees, brake line and spacers for fender, brake, headlight, axle. new tubes, longer axle.
Tubes come with new dampers, springs. You have to use lower tube with kit and they are a pregnant dog to take apart.

So are the tubes farther apart with the new front end?? It doesnt look like the bike is any taller at center either ? I also would like to know if you notice any dif. in stearing ??

They call it a wide glide type kit so they are a little wider. Haven't ridden far enough to tell a difference.13 degree rake makes height about the same.

I'll take more tomorrow,I still have to put back on my tank pad, chrome wire loom and clean it up a little. I also am waiting on forward controls from seeger, and putting stock turn signals back on after I get the brake light conversion kit.

Hey, Man.  That's about the cleanest extended/raked  forks that I've seen on a Savage.

Nice job!

Not big chopper guy, but your bike looks great! I like the fact that the height is the same. Is this the seeger kit? I look forward to seeing some more pics. Nice job!

Can't put the blinkers on the the bars, then it won't fit into my door to my porch!

Turn signals are not required in FLorida.

I was going to suggest turn signals that clamped to and hung under the handlebars, like the ones I took off my '74 Enduro-- couldn't find any on the web!

Trust me you want to have as many lights as you can down here so they might see you!

I saw turn signals on the front side (facing the bike's forks)mirrors before.  Too bad they cost over 100 and u still have to worry about hiding the wires.

How difficult is to convert a Savage into a Chopper?

Buy the kit and bolt it on, the hardest part was getting the tubes separated. If you decide to do the kit take the tubes to a shop and have them unscrew the bottom tubes with a impact wrench.
