Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 18:17:28 I finally got my front end on, It took a little time to do it right but I have to say I could not have done it without the hoghunter, He's done this before and that helped. Istill have to bleed the brakes.I only took a small ride byt I'll ride more tomorrow. Here a few pics I just took,I'll take better ones this weekend. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jrm8486/my_photos |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by SAMM on 01/26/06 at 18:34:32 Way Coool Jrm...What is included in the kit, Longer legs? both triple trees? brake hose? and ?? |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by lancer on 01/26/06 at 18:36:18 Very nice indeed. I really like the lines of the rear fender. |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 18:39:23 Triple trees, brake line and spacers for fender, brake, headlight, axle. new tubes, longer axle. Tubes come with new dampers, springs. You have to use lower tube with kit and they are a pregnant dog to take apart. |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by SAMM on 01/26/06 at 19:00:07 So are the tubes farther apart with the new front end?? It doesnt look like the bike is any taller at center either ? I also would like to know if you notice any dif. in stearing ?? |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 19:03:45 They call it a wide glide type kit so they are a little wider. Haven't ridden far enough to tell a difference.13 degree rake makes height about the same. |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by SAMM on 01/26/06 at 19:06:36 Need more pics !!! ;D |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 19:12:06 I'll take more tomorrow,I still have to put back on my tank pad, chrome wire loom and clean it up a little. I also am waiting on forward controls from seeger, and putting stock turn signals back on after I get the brake light conversion kit. |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by SAMM on 01/26/06 at 19:17:12 Im looking for a nice cheap pair of stock ft pegs if your going to change them ?? |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/26/06 at 19:20:35 I already sold my stock pegs and put on chrome ones. But I'll be taking those off too! |

Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Greg_650 on 01/26/06 at 22:36:33 Hey, Man. That's about the cleanest extended/raked forks that I've seen on a Savage. Nice job! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by mmosel on 01/27/06 at 00:51:48 Not big chopper guy, but your bike looks great! I like the fact that the height is the same. Is this the seeger kit? I look forward to seeing some more pics. Nice job! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Kropatchek on 01/27/06 at 01:14:59 Very nice indeed. Ever thought of putting the front blinkers on the handlebar? Greetz Kropatchek ;D |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/27/06 at 18:25:03 Can't put the blinkers on the the bars, then it won't fit into my door to my porch! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Savage_Rob on 01/27/06 at 18:45:53 Very nice indeed! Is that the Seeger kit? |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/27/06 at 19:23:26 Yes it is a Seeger Kit, I'm still waiting for the forward controls. |

Turn signals are not required in FLorida. I was going to suggest turn signals that clamped to and hung under the handlebars, like the ones I took off my '74 Enduro-- couldn't find any on the web! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 01/28/06 at 04:28:56 Trust me you want to have as many lights as you can down here so they might see you! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Jim_R on 01/28/06 at 06:05:47 I saw turn signals on the front side (facing the bike's forks)mirrors before. Too bad they cost over 100 and u still have to worry about hiding the wires. |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Mr 650 on 02/24/06 at 17:38:46 trick! |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by klx650sm2002 on 02/25/06 at 02:17:49 Hey jrm, What length are Your forks, top to axle. Mine are 36". Clive W :D |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 02/25/06 at 06:07:52 38" from top to axle. the tubes are 8" over stock and the rake is 13 degree |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by Violent_Rage on 02/26/06 at 15:37:51 How difficult is to convert a Savage into a Chopper? |
Title: Re: Chopper Kit Done! Post by jrm8486 on 02/26/06 at 17:50:42 Buy the kit and bolt it on, the hardest part was getting the tubes separated. If you decide to do the kit take the tubes to a shop and have them unscrew the bottom tubes with a impact wrench. |
