Any chance that this shock could work on the Savage with possibly some modification.

you bet - that's a 11.5" 90/130lb sae bushing shock - will give you a much softer ride that stock my 180lbs bottomed out some on the first click but the 2 or 3rd makes a fine ride. I'm told you can order the metic bushings for like $7 but I have not done so.

Cool, thanks.  My stock shocks don't bottom out unless I wack a speed bump, I really don't feel they do much of any thing.

I don't think the stocks do either - and on the older bike it was acting like a pogo stick - big difference with the progressives.
