Title: Battery box cover.
Post by Jim_R on 01/01/06 at 19:12:05

Ok believe it or not the ebay battery chrome cover came off when I was riding again.  ARG!!!!  I just wanted to tell other owners I found www.ronayers.com sells them for only 26.00 with no lock.  Not too shabby.  I see almost 99% of the parts are cheaper than www.bikebandit.com

I think this time I am bolting it on lol.

I've noticed that too.  Sometimes the sales at BikeBandit can be decent, especially if coupled with the AMA discount but most of the time RonAyers is the best buy.  RonAyers also seems to get the order out to you quicker.  BikeBandit seems to have to order it and wait for it to arrive and then ship it to you... at least that's been my experience.

Did you lock it with the key?

yep.  I think it might have been a tad loose and vibrated off.   Whats funny is I never use it.  I got a small fork bag for tools.  But it looks pretty ugly without the cover.

The battery box covers are not the easiest to get on with the tool kit sitting inside the cover either.

Ive nearly lost mine a couple of times when I first bought my Savage .  These days I usually angle the bottom half of the cover in first, so it looks like its catching on the locks frame catch.

Cheers Gary

The past summer, coming at the job, I have lost the cover too.
The same evening I have found it but it had been completely crushed.  :-X :'(

Thank's for the news!   ;)

Yes Im cheap !!!   My Mistress ( so my wife calls her ) was missing the cover when I bought her...I just went to the local sheet metal shop and had them bend two edges for a flat cover out of aluminium...bolted it on in place of the bat hold down end plate....  polishes up to a mirror finish...Use the bat hold down end cover for a template  :)

If you're not really using it, why not just drill a hole on the bottom and run a screw through it?

Steve

I think I am gonna drill a hole on top because there is a threaded hole on top it can screw into.

Heck, I an almost tempted to get Torques dad to tack  a weld onto it lol..
