Hi all,

Quick question about shocks. I've noticed that many of you go for new shocks. Does the Savage come stock with adjustable shocks? My S40 has adjustable ride shocks so I'm curious to know if the Savage is the same. I haven't adjusted them yet, but they come set at the #2 position, which is firm. I'm going to try the other setting to see how they feel - when I have the time.

If you do have the adjustable shocks on your own bike, what setting do you prefer?

my shocks really suck as they bottom out if i run over a mosquito! But it seems new ones are a lot of money? I would love to do the progressive thing a la savagerob but just don't want to put the big bucks into it! Any suggestions?

So far as I know they all have adjustable shocks stock - new they're ok - but seems to me the damper effect wears out with age and then they're pretty bad - you get a pogo stick effect.

Maybe a little on seat height at the cost of your lower back - have you lifted the front of the seat yet? - it helps a fair bit for most folks to keep ou from slide'n on to the tank.

Under $100 on ebay if you keep watch

Nope. No change in the seat height.

Thanks Dynobob,

Finding the default position a little too stiff for my, 5'4" 115 lb frame, but was worried that loosening the suspension would make the seat higher.

I'm 215 lbs, and the middle position seems to work okay. Number four is a little too stiff over potholes.

I've heard lots of good things about the Progressives, but my stockers are still in decent shape, so I'm holding off on those. Never mind that riding season is about done in MD...

I am still on the lookout for progressive shocks! However, are there any other companies that sell shocks not so expensive? Any one has any experience?

I don't know of any other decent shocks that are as inexpensive as Progressive 412's.

here's some fine ones seem to be staying below a $100
I asked the folks they are 412-4005c - these would be 11" 90/130lbs SAE(harley) shocks - you'd have deal with the bolt hole difference but that's not a real big deal
