Title: is it worth re-chroming bars?
Post by jimbrough on 11/25/05 at 16:03:41

Hi.  rescued my suzi a year ago but not before she had sat outside for three (count 'em--three) years...these people drive you nuts!!  she's pretty clean now, but the bars are looking pretty crappy still - i actually don't mind the shape of them.  i have an '88 with the flat ones.

Should i just get another or a harley set (i hear they fit) .. a friend told me it cost $50 to re-chrome a little screw so not even sure if i should look into that.

any thoughts or experiences?

I bought new Harley Sportster handlebars for around $43. They're a little wider than my drag bars & have a very comfortable bend. There are cheaper handlebars out there too.

If ya don't wanna buy new bars Jim, just paint 'em flat black, add a set of white "bicycle-style" grips for a touch of the "1950's" and yer all set!

You know, Perry, that's not a half-bad idea!

Picked up a set of Savage pull backs for $10 on eBay.
