Has anyone here ever purchased or installed a set of heated grips on their bike? If so what brand, supplier, ect.

i've heard about them, gold wingers use them.

me i just double up on the gloves.

Read an article somewhere in a wintersport magazine.
There are heated gloves with build-in heating ,powered by a rechargeable battery. How about that?

Jesse, hope you are going to be able to make the Savage Mt St Helens "scoot" in June with us. FYI there was a string of articles on heated grips on one of these yahoo sites. NWTT(thumpers) or the PNWRoadriders forum. They were fitting them on BMW's and others but have a list of the parts # needed. Also check out snowmobile heated grips as those dealers ought to be glad to sell anyparts at this point. No snow = no sales. My Mom lives in Judson Part Retirement Community in Des Moines, we get there about once a month to visit her, but don't ride or bring the bike over. Do you know of the bike customizer who has a shop on Marine view drive? Max

I'm bringing this one forward, because my hands got really really cold Saturday morning early (had to be somewhere before sun up. Actually had to stop for a cup of coffee when I got gas to warm my hands up.

Has anyone put heated grips on their Savage?

Haven't tried them but sure have thought about them. Some mornings I leave and it's 2 below zero C. 20 minute ride and i have to stop half way for ten minutes to warm up!! I don't think i've ever experienced cold quite like that and I lived in the arctic circle for four years!

How about stop along the side of the road and put your hand over the top of our Savage's engine until your hand warm-up and then go on. It's free ;D ;D ;D

I have had the "Hot Grips" brand of heated grips on the last 3 motorcycles that I use for long distance touring. I wouldn't be without them. Last Sunday, I put 340 miles on my motorcycle, with the temps starting at 27 F and going up to 45. When it's in the 20-30F range, I combine the grips with a set of "Moose Hands". This setup makes the hands the last thing to get cold instead of the first. I also wear thin deerskin gloves year round, as bulky gloves don''t give me the feel of the controls that I like. Instalation is pretty straight foreward with basic knowlege of electrical stuff. Always use relays on stuff like this. Ususl price of the grips ate between $60-80, but you can find them on sale from time to time. A side benefit of the grips is they help dry the gloves after riding in the rain.
