How do you drain a fuel bowl on an s40? I am trying to figure this out for winterizing purposes. Thanks for your help.

There's a bolt on the underside of the floatchamber. Turn lefthand with a 10mm spanner and you'r done.

I found another way, if you want, and it involves using the vacuum feature on the petc0ck...

Since the fuel is vacuum controlled with the petc0ck set to the On or Res position, put the lever in one of those positions, and start the bike.  Then with the bike running, pull the vacuum line from the carb on the right side.  The idle speed might change a little, and you might want to use the choke...but with the hose off, the engine will run untill all the gas is sucked out of the fuel line and the carb bowl.

Pretty simple.  Just don't lose that little hose clip.

My 2003 has a drain screw on the bottom of the bowl. Just turn it counterclockwise with a small flathead screwdriver and all the gas will drain from the bowl.

See "bowl drain" at the bottom of this photo by Greg:

Thanks Greg for the vacuum line suggestion.  This will make the winterization process much easier and cleaner than before.

Thanks to Dynobob for linking my photo...that IS the most common way to drain the carb.

The other method just keeps you from pouring any gas on the bike or the floor, and is a great way to idle the bike before changing the oil, too.

Thanks on how to drain the fuel bowl, see my last post on the 'bike won't start' thread.
