Title: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by Reelthing on 10/19/05 at 22:26:11 Just wondering if anyone is headed to this rally - if it really pulls in as many bikes as it claims I need to have a look. |
Title: Re: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by jbrough7 on 10/20/05 at 01:27:42 I wish I could but I'm livin' and workin' in the great white north. We have a bike rally in Port Dover, Ontario that attracts something like 50 or 60000 bikes once a year on a Friday the 13th. I hear it's crazy. Tell me about yours.... |
Title: Re: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by Reelthing on 10/20/05 at 04:41:58 Hurricane Rita in Sept moved this rally to the Nov 3-5 but I have read it may start as early as Oct 30 and 100k to 250k bikes depending on the weather - hard to believe you could put that many there. |
Title: Re: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by RadarORiley on 10/20/05 at 08:36:52 The International Motorcycle Show is in Dallas that same weekend, bet that will cut into the participation. I plan to go to that, even though I just Hate Dallas. The traffic sucks. I worked at TI for a couple of years in the 60's and fought it every day. When we go to Lake Fork, we use I-20 even though it takes a little longer. I guess I'm just a gripey old woman. I wonder if there will be enough rooms to accomodate that many people? I have two Grandsons working in Jasper, Honey Island area clearing tree damage and they are having to stay in Livingston to find a room. |
Title: Re: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by babbalou on 10/20/05 at 17:41:23 They moved it to Fort Worth this year. Traffic's still bad there on weekends though. :P http://show.motorcycleshows.com/IMSBrandManager/v42/index.cvn |
Title: Re: Lonestar Rally Galveston Post by RadarORiley on 10/20/05 at 20:28:40 that is great news, I can almost find my way around Fort Worth. Grew up in River Oaks, but boy has it changed. |
