naw i'd say like 50  ;D

how can you measure horsepower after mods ?

Torque*RPM's/5252

I get about 20 hp as I generally keep the RPMs low.

u could dyno it.  They charge like 45 at a local speed shop here.  Maybe one day Ill do it.  Im thinking with my pod setup and a 157.5 and 55 jets im at least getting 33. haha

The question is better asked 'How much torque'?
Then ya don't feel so wimpy w/ the crotch-rocketeers.
Perhaps in my case - crotchety-rocketeer. :)

Speaking of horsepower, does anyone know how to convert CC's into horsepower? I've been told a few times but can never remember.

i believe converting cubic centimeters to torque is like comparing apple and oranges.

cc's have to do with volume, torque is a measurment of power.  a 250 with 4cylinders most likley  has less torque that a 250 thumper.

Torque is a twisting force.  It is developed by the pressure of the expanding combustion gasses pressing down on the surface area of the piston multiplied by the length of the crank throw.

Between a four and a single of the same displacement, the four has less surface area and a shorter stroke resulting in far less torque.  However this torque comes four times as often as with the single.

The four-cylinder gives four little shoves.
The single gives a massive kick.

"So tell me why should it be true
That I get a kick out of you."

Hey again,
If you converted the cubic centimeters in to cubic inches then couldn't you figure your torque or horsepower from that? Just a theory, not sure.

The Rebel 250 is a 248cc 2 cylinder that makes 15 hp.
The Ninja 250 is a 248cc 2 cylinder that makes 38 hp.

Power output cannot be determined from displacement alone.

That was a joke, right??

Post Dynojet kit KLX made 40 ft.lbs and 40 bhp, since then I've itted a keihin FCR41 (measures 42mm), a custom made header (41mm i.d.) and a big bore glasspack muffler, definately better.

Found while surfing:

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall;
torque is how far you take the wall with you.

pretty good!

I like to think of it this way:

When you are at constant speed, horspower is how far you have the throttle open.  A less open throttle means more HP.  How quickly you accelerate is basically your torque.

Somehow that just didn't have the same visual as the wall did.
