I've spent the past hour trying to remove my pilot jet. It's as if it's WELDED in place. The groove is now almost too boogered up for the screwdriver to catch it. I sprayed it with a penetrating oil that's supposed to loosen frozen parts & I let it soak. The pilot jet will not budge. Is there something simple I've overlooked? It does turn counterclockwise to unscrew, right? Did anyone have to remove the carb & drill it out? Anyway, my #55 came in friday & it looks like it's going nowhere. :-/

"Normal" tools are a waste of time in a bike carb. Gunsmithing screwdrivers work best, I prefer Brownells. Very pricey, but actually fit the screws.

You can squeak by using Craftsman, but better tools are out there.

Gunsmithing screwdrivers, huh? I'm gonna have to look for those. I had the same problem Babbalou. Luckily I had a spare jet to put in because I wound up using an EZ-Out to get the b1tch to come out after I boogered it up with a jeweler's screwdriver. The EZ-Out worked perfectly, by the way. LOL!

Well, I finally got the pilot jet out. I had to remove the carb so I could look down into the tube to see what I was doing. The bad news is, my Suzuki dealer sold me the wrong jet. The part I paid $9.95 & waited 5 days for is for some other carb. Way too big & long to fit. So I'm stuck in the cage for another week. :-[

I forgot; thanks for the tips! I appreciate it. When that jet comes in I'll be ready with the proper tools so I don't go through this all over again. Ride safe! :)
