Title: New gell seats on old Savage
Post by Superray on 06/08/05 at 19:36:41

Is there any way to fit the new 05' gell seats on my good old 87' Black Savage?  I know the drill; The new seats won't fit the old bikes. So why not? I can add threaded inserts or nuts anywhere on the bike. Is there a real life answer somewhere? Thanks and have a good one,....Ray

try this logic on.  anything can fit anything, it just takes a little tinkering.  so while it won't just bolt on and go it will work.

here's an example on my bobber of a springer seat.

Yes it will fit.

You might have to drill a hol in the rear fender for the rear attachment. But if you are riding single you can install a short(chome) bolt and a rubber bumper.

There's a post in Bert's forum that describes all the details.

And be carefull if you deside to drill the hole in the fender, you'r right on top of the wire chanel for the taillights.

Got pictures? What did you have to do to make it fit? Please describe. I have an 87 as well and am looking to improve the seat but do not what to lose the ability to ride two up. 8)

Do tell.....

Sorry, but my 37 yr old behind, though I believe I have pleeeeenty of cushion...could use more under it. LOL
I was looking at those pillow gel seats for the new S40's
They look mighty comfy.
I didn't know if it would fit my 2001?
