Title: new jardine exhaust Post by tfrawg75 on 05/18/05 at 17:39:22 I got my jardine slip on today. Wasn't sure what to expect the sound is even better than I ever hoped and as reduced my backfire to a poot when I shut it off.Does a little crackling from first to second but think it is pretty cool. Just so pleased I had to share it with someone next will be jets maybe I can get rid of the poot now |

Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by tfrawg75 on 05/18/05 at 22:52:27 throttle response seems better and it does seem to get to top speed quicker. could just be because I'm in love with the way it sounds. Also just put some drag bars on today. I need to post a pic |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Paladin on 05/19/05 at 06:03:08 E-mail the picture to me (800+ resolution) and tell me where on the map to put you. Then you can link to my site. |

Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Savage_Rob on 05/19/05 at 10:45:30 The slash-cut looks good. |

Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Goose on 05/19/05 at 18:16:53 have had the jardine on mine for about a year with a 152.5 main jet and it ran pretty well. wife bought a 2005 s40 wanted the mac pipe got one put it on with a 155 main jet. liked the power so much pulled the jardine off of mine put a mac on with 157.5 main jet and stock type k and n air filter and man does it pull |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Goose on 05/19/05 at 18:21:18 hate to say it i like the looks of thejardine over the mac and the jardine is not as loud as the mac but the increase in power with mac was worth the downside |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Paladin on 05/19/05 at 18:41:36 You're about 85 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, on old route 66. Which is why the TV tower guess -- a decent yagi on a high mast should pull in all of the Chicago stations. jendesigner also claims to be in a suburb of Chicago. |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by tfrawg75 on 05/21/05 at 07:54:17 I was wondering is it normal for my slip on to start blueing in a few days? It is doing it where it widens out about a 3 inch wide spot all the way around. Is something wrong with my bike or is it normal for it to happen so fast I have been riding it alot |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Reelthing on 05/21/05 at 08:26:44 It's running lean/hot - You need the 152.5/155 jet, low speed mixture set real real soon. |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by tfrawg75 on 05/21/05 at 10:03:06 is that for the main jet? and if it is running that lean should I just jump to a 155 |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by tfrawg75 on 05/21/05 at 10:18:40 one more thing I know I saw somewhere on here how to change jets but I can't seem to find it |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by WD on 05/21/05 at 19:33:42 Jardine slip-ons do tend to discolor rapidly. Doesn't matter what bike they go on. Probably for the posuers who never ride their "butt jewelry", so they can pretend they are in fact bikers. ::) Fatten up the main and pilot jets, soon. A honey colored pipe is normal, blue or purple, you need carb tweaking. -WD $40 grand and 40 miles doesn't make you a biker. Bikers are a rare breed, Harley riders are a dime a dozen. ;D |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Daniel Ormsby on 09/21/05 at 10:23:04 Hi, Ive been looking around the internet for a new pipe. I was told by the dealer that the Jardine slashcut slip on is the only aftermarket pipe for my 2005 boulevard ls650 (s40). What else if anything is required for fitting of this pipe? also will this be louder? and will it help stop some of the backfiring? |

There are lots of mufflers being fitted to LS650 / S40s. I have a Supertrapp and like it alot. There's also the Mac muffler, Raask exhaust, and all types of Harley mufflers. Aftermarket exhaust will be louder (some louder than others) and will backfire more (and blue the exhaust) unless you rejet the carb. With a rejet, backfiring will be minimal and the bike will run a whole lot better. |

You need to translate that from "Dealer" to "English." Roughly "I have a Jardine I kicking around that I need to get rid of." I have found very few dealers of anything that are anywhere near as knowledgeable as the fanatics. (There are some fanatics working at dealerships, 'tis rare but pleasurable.) |

And allow me to clarify a bit on that for someone new... The simplistic nutshell version: The increased backfiring wouldn't be because the muffler messed up the system. Basically, the bike has too little fuel being mixed with the air in the first place (stock). When you improve airflow by upgrading the input (air filter) and/or output (exhaust), the original problem is accentuated. Rejetting, adjusting the idle mixture, and doing the white spacer mod improve the fuel flow. If I misspoke here, someone please correct me. |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by savage777 on 09/22/05 at 10:28:22 I had already put a 155 main in my carb and the first 6 " of my Jardine turned brown on the test ride! They used really thin inexpensive chrome on them, as well as the thin chrome on the header pipe to begin with. |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by Savage_Rob on 09/22/05 at 10:36:47 Hmm, my Mac didn't blue at all until I experimented with header wrap on the header. The additional heat reaching the muffler blued it. I took that stuff off and painted the header and muffler black. |
Title: Re: new jardine exhaust Post by savage777 on 09/22/05 at 10:40:19 yeah I've heard mixed things about that wrap never heard anything good enough to convince me to try it |
