Title: Put on dragbar, now bike idles erratically! HELP &
Post by Glock_N_Roll on 05/17/05 at 17:44:24

I added a Krome Werks Drag Bar with a 3 1/2" pullback.  The throttle cable doesn't seem too long but the bike will either idle too high RPM's or stall.

I tried to adjust the screw on the left side of the engine by the throttle cable, but it either makes it too HIGH rpm's or too low.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.  Tyler

I'd check the play in the cable to see if it's a little off. Last time I took a little slack out of my throttle cable the idle speed depended on whether the wheel was turned left or right. I put a little slack back in & that fixed it. I'd also check  & see if the cable isn't at an angle coming out of the fitting, which could hang it up a little.
I hope that helps.  ;D

Ditto on babbalou's response.  I had the same problem -- not on my Savage but on my YZF600 -- after I raised the clip-on bars.  The outside tube of a throttle cable was c0cked out and drove me nuts changing the idle with the bars on every turn till I figgered it out.

Similar deal on my Suzuki GS1000 as well, but not as easy to find.

Keep looking it over, you'll likely find it!
