Title: Sharpest Bike
Post by savagethumper on 03/29/05 at 14:13:28

Alright, I have the ugly bike thing going on in another post; now I want to know what all you guys think is the best looking production bike.  Not modified, right off the showroom floor.

My first choice would have to be the http://motorcyclecruiser.com/newsandupdates/Vegas-StatSilvR1-big.jpg  Victory Vegas.  I know it's a little overpriced, but it looks so clean.
;)

You mean after the Savage...er S40  :) I assume.
I would have to say the Vegas would be on my short list, in fact of any V-2 I like the Bombardier
I had the hots for a FJR, but my back says nope.

Of course I meant after the Savage.  Geez, don't be silly :-X
By thw way, Nightrain, is that a Confederate?

Title: Re: Best looking bike
Post by Nightrain on 03/29/05 at 14:29:36

Not really sure what you mean by confederate. Although it started as a custom, they mass produce these things now.  You can order this exact bike right from the factory depending upon the level of completion you require. You can buy all the parts plus the cost of the additional fabrication needed to make this a completely  bolt-together project for $23,152. The complete motorcycle, as pictured and ready to ride, is $32,452. Call it what you will but is sure is a sweet lookin' chopper  ;)

Cheers!

My vote is for the Confederate Wildcat, don't have a picture handy but it is one nasty looking bike. Ed L.

The confederate wildcat

Now I get it, I didnt even know confederate was a bike company until now. I thought confederate was some slang term. Surfing this board is better than going to school  ;D

Waits a minute ??? those ain't "off the showroom floor", "production", they are at least special/custom order, aren't they?
I mean more like pony-up 10 grand and wait til they get around to putting it together, w/ BIG  :o balance due ala OCC?
A guy could do alot w/ the extra 15 grand and a real box stock "assembly line" bike. ;D
..at least a Savagster could!

Title: Re: Best looking bike
Post by Ed_L. on 03/29/05 at 15:44:47

That's the critter, believe that Confederate has been making the Wildcat for around five years as a low production bike. The rear suspension has a hidden monoshock while the frame is the oil tank. Asked about one last year at the local OCC type chopper store and was told that thier clientle have a differrent riding style. Just was curious to see one up close, I'm attracted to strange and unusual things ;D. Ride Safe

Okay, so don't everybody hate me, but you've gotta admit that the V-Rod is a good lookin' bike.  Expensive, yes.  Personally, I'd never spend an extra, hmm, 10-15 grand just to have a sticker on my bike that says Harley, but that's just me.  Anyway, just thought I'd throw the the V-Rod out there.

I have to agree  ;). Although I would never dish out that much cash for a bone stock harley, It is a gnarley bike. There is a fella in my office building that has one with some aftermarket pipes. That thing sounds nastier than a hemi cuda' with glasspacks.

Street bikes made from old dirt bikes are cool.  This one's Omar's http://omarsdtr.com/stIIcallout.jpg

There's a tt600 ratbike in this month's Metric Road Bike that I'm drooling over.  Can't find an online pic.  My XR500 will succomb soon to this kind of project.

Oh my -- somebody beat me to it with an XR500.  This is as close to perfect as it gets for me.

Don't mind the double pipes and two carbs, it's still a thumper.

The Yamaha Warrior looks better than the Vegas or Vrod (WAY BETTER THAN THE VROD) in my opinion, too bad it doesnt ride as good as it looks.

Best looking? Mega-production: HD Springer. Low-production: Panzer Digger if it is still made. (Not just because I prototyped it either  ;D ;D ;D) Japanese mega-production: toss up between the 1100 Shadows and the 1100 V-star classic. Something about long fenders gets me right where I live.  8)

The VRod was my close second.  Yea, yea, I know, it's an HD, but it looks tough.

WD - I agree about the V-Star 1100.  I like the custom though, not the classic.  That's why they make more than one, right?  I'm seriously considering the V-Star.  My dad's got one.  I love riding it.

Well, in the looks dept. there are a few (besides the Savage/S40) that do it for me ...

Kawasaki W650

All good picks, but isn't the W540 out of production now? You might be able to find a new one some place, but as for “rolling a new 2005 out of the showroom, but sadly they are gone. There seems to be an over-abundance of HD clones out there.

Extinct production bikes on my list – ’67 YR1, DT 250, SL 350, Superglide, H2, & H3, Z1, CBX, XLCR, Katana 1000, GS750 ESD, FJ1100,

Didn’t like any of the first batches of foreign “cruisers” w/ exception of the Savage.
They did not look right somehow. The Kawy Eliminator came close but still sorta missed the mark.

Well, that's just everyone's difference in opinion; that boattail Harley almost made the "ugly" list for me.  But those other bikes are nice.  I guess that might be the difference in generations.  My Dad likes my Savage, but can't stand Ninja's, etc...He used to have a Honda 305???  Late '60's early '70's???  Rode the wheels off it, by what I was told.  When he found out I bought a motorcycle, he almost disowned me.  He swore I was gonna die the first week I had it.  He didn't realize I had already been riding a couple years...practicing.  He came out to the house to chew my a**, and ended up riding the Savage for a couple hours.  Came back and told me to just be careful.  He still thinks I'm 16.

Saw the new Triumph the other day, stopped and looked at it so long, I thought I might have to go to Confession for lusting after it. It is one beautiful machine. The guy who owns it came out to see what I was up to and started it for me. Sweet.  My husband even liked it and he's not a biker. Told me if I could figure out a way to hold it up, he'd buy me one. Maybe I could get a leg graft?

I went back and looked at the new Victory Hammer too.
I like the lace wheels on the Vegas.

My bud had a flawless green '73 500 Kaw http://www.classicbikes.co.uk/images/h1d02.jpg and all I had to do was pickup the note. No sweat, My Dad was OK w/ it but then there was Mom. I had to wait 'til I was 18 to get a bike.

I know it's a Savage site , and most of us love our cruisers, but I'll admit that if it has two wheels, it's in my wish list, from crotch rockets to V-Stars, BMWs, dual sports, Vulcans, V-Maxes, you name it. The only ones I would not ride on a steady basis are the pure dirt-bikes, those are just no bikes for me, but well, I'm from the South.... way South... ;D

I kinda like the look of the 2006 VRSCR.  HD is still way too expensive for me but I think that bike looks very nice.

We just got a Titan Motorcycle dealer in the area and for the money, you can't beat them for looks.  I can't post a picture, but the website has some good examples.  They are some beautiful bikes!

Is that Black tractor an Exile? I love those bikes.

I would have to agree with the HD V rod. Thats a sweet bike. My buddy has one. I have seen it often and up close.

Although, for me, this reintroduction of the Vincent Black Lightning might just be in my top three.... again... if money was no object

If we are talking wish list/to die for then I guess a Vincent Black Shadow would be my choice. I'm also strangely attracted to any of these. http://aermacchi-racing.com/.  A Cafe racer and thumper, probably costs more than a Harley.

My absolute favorites went out of production in 1947, 1953, 1965, 1931, 1942. They are: HD Knucklehead 1936-47, HD Panhead 1948-65, Indian Chief, Exelsior/Henderson, Indian Four. The reporductions, while mechanically stronger, just dont have the soul of the originals.

The CB Hondas were the best bikes Japan ever offered for the money. Although the air-cooled GS series definitely gave them a run for the money. I loved my CB350F and GS750T. (The 350 was faster though)

The Wildcat is an absolute handful to ride, hope you like speeding tickets...

If I could not get another Savage, boy I hate to admit to these, I'd probably get a Geezer-Glide (Electra-glide Ultra Classic), Road Glide, Nomad, or BMW with the adjustable seat, with a bad back, viable suspension is looking better and better...sux.
