Well, Bert's forum has gone kablooey again. Server must be acting up. Any post newer than January 31 '05 isn't showing up.
Glad I found this site. Had fun while Bert's lasted, too many problems there now.

Anyone e-mail Bert about the problem yet? I thought it was just because I am trying a new accelerator program and it didn't work with that forum software.

Between the crashes, the spamming, and the backbiting, it is no longer worth it. Too bad, because I used to really like his site. Was on it religiously from 98-02, off and on since. A few too many troublemakers there now. Some decent folks that I hate to lose contact with, but, for the most part, the people I liked most have rolled over to here or dropped out entirely.

This site captures what his used to be, should have stayed, and could have been. For me, that site no longer exists...

Since I started riding [April '01], I'd log on Bert's board often and post occasionally. But since I found this board about a month ago, I haven't logged on Bert's much at all.  I like this one much better.

To me, the difference to Bert's board and this one is that Bert's seemed to have more detailed technical discussion concerning mods and repairs rather than this board which has more personal stuff and lots of info and discussion about accessories. There are a lot of very technically competent posters on Bert's and there are here as well but they get drowned out by those looking to purchase add-ons to their Savages.

It is a shame to see Bert's board denigrated by spammers. I think all it needs is a better software system and I hope Bert can find the time to make the changes necessary to make it more secure and usable.

The CGI software used at Bert's is just a little too fragile.

Actually, I think I broke it this time.  I posted my epic saga, "Where Every Town's A Harley Town" there.  When I refreshed the screen after posting, it was broke.

sorry.  :-[

That's alright. when I first switched to cable modem, I was convinced that I had killed it. 5 screens worth of spamming between actual posts... more than it had been hit with from 1998 until this fall combined.

I liked Bert's site. I liked Bert. I liked alot of people from there who've since dropped off. Such is life. I liked pizza and beer but can't have them anymore either. The pain involved isn't worth the short term enjoyment.

Times change. If the programming can't keep up, then the programming can't keep up. Was fun while it lasted.
