Title: Magnetic oil drain plug
Post by dadorfman on 03/23/05 at 15:23:12

I found this on a Rebel board:  a magnetic drain plug.  The seller has a website at www.magneticdrainplug.com.  We are not related, and I receive no commission, but I thought this might appeal to people on this board, to.  I mentioned it once before, but the thread was along the lines of what personal items one might use as a drain plug, and might not have caught people's notice.  If the site has not been updated to mention the Savage, contact the owner.  I just got plugs for all three of my bikes, including the Savage.

Gotta ask here, did you get the name from Ray Stevens Gitarzan song from the 70's? when I was a little kid I couldnt play enough of that song.

Here is a recent (3-24-05) reply:

Yes, I do have a mag drain plug for your Savage.

Just click on the motorcycle page of www.magneticdrainplug.com, and buy Suzuki Plug MP-05.  After you buy, please e-mail and remind me that it is for a 02 Savage and I will get the right plug out to you.  I will have actual pics and buy it now for that plug in the next week or so.

Thanks!
Tim

Yeah, it was the first 45rpm record I ever bought with my own money.  I was in 9th grade (1969) and went to a dept store called Rinks, it was a K-Mart type place.

I paid $.69 cents each for Ray Stevens's Gitarzan and Elvis' In The Ghetto.  The flip side of ITG had Kentucky Rain, IMHO one of the King's finest recordings.

The song Gitarzan now sounds pretty silly now, but it was big hit back then.  I still like it, it's like my song...
git-it! Git-It! GIT-IT! GIT-IT! OW! Gitarzan...

If you think about how it was sung, it's almost a rap song.

I started using Gitarzan as a moniker about 1991 when I was "charter member" of AOL.  I've used it everywhere on the Internet since.
:)

Gitarzan
He's free as the breeze, He's always at ease
He lives in the jungle and hangs by his knees
As he swings through the trees without a trapeze
In his B.V.D.'s

He's got a union card and he's practicing hard
To play the guitar
Gonna be a big star, yeah, he's gonna go far
And carry moon beams home in a jar

He ordered Chet's Guitar course C.O.D.
Makes "A" and "E" and he's working on "B"
Digs "C" and "W" and "R" and "B"
And me and the chimpanzee agree that one day soon he will be a celebrity

Chorus

Git it, git it, git it, git it...OW!
Gitarzan, he's a guitar man
He's all you can stand
Give him a hand, Gitarzan
Ahhh (Jungle Yell), Ahhh, Ahhh

He's got a girl named Jane with no last name
Kinda homely and plain but he loves her just the same
Cuz she kindles a flame and it drives him insane
When he hears her sing, she really does her thing
It's her claim to fame, come on, sing one Jane

Baby, baby
Ow, baby, baby (scat)
Baby, baby

Well, they got a pet monkey
He likes to get drunky
And sing boogie woogie and it sounds real funky
Come on, your time boy, sing one monkey

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Let's hear it for the monkey
On saturday night they need some excitement
Jane gets right and the monkey gets tight
And their voices unite in the pale moonlight
And it sounds all right, yeah, it's dynamite, it's out of sight
Let's hear it right.....now

Baby, ahhh, baby, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Baby, ahhh, baby, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Chorus

Git it, git it, git it, git it...ow!
Gitarzan and his jungle band
They're all you can stand
Give 'em a hand Gitarzan

What a list.

1969  13years old, first  kiss at a bowling alley in gary indiana, elvis in the ghetto,  spinning wheel, one,  on the radio. woodstock happening (no i didn't  go). cold war, anti war demonstrations.  guess who, ccr, the beatles. all those great songs.  my first motorcycle, first joint, last fight.  wow you sure did take me back with that list.

13-14 years old molds what we are today. the music and comedy we loved then are the same as we love now.

thanks git for the ride on the "way back" machine. almost as fun as a ride on thumper.
