Title: Forward controls Post by Nightrain on 02/25/05 at 16:37:23 I am at a point now where I am obsessed with making my own forward controls. $500 is just too much money. I mean, you can gouge a little, but don't gouge till it hurts. I have scoured the internet far and wide and came up with these directions to fab ones own Fussrasten. Unfortunately they are in german, which I dont speak or understand. I can kind of figure out what the pictures mean but It would be helpfull to know what the words say. And yes, I have been on babbelfish for the last 2 hours trying to decipher it. I figured I would post it here for everyone. And if someone speaks german and can translate it....well then balls out ;D http://www.savage-extrem.de/tips/JogiRasten1.jpg http://www.savage-extrem.de/tips/JogiRasten2.jpg http://www.savage-extrem.de/tips/JogiRastenSkizze1.jpg http://www.savage-extrem.de/tips/JogiRastenSkizze2.jpg |

The thing i miss the most is a "blue print" on the plates, but i may just messure the darn thing out by myself when i do it :D |

Title: Re: Forward controls Post by Kropatchek on 02/27/05 at 06:39:03 @nightrain My german is not as good as my english but here we go: Shifting side First sketch: Threaded rod with 6 mm thread LH and RH thread. With locknuts ( contermutter) Lenght of the rod to suit. 2nd sketch: When you have access to a lath: Original shiftlever. To be turned outof a large bolt so that shiftlever can be mounted with little play. What he means with VA bolt I do not know, probably the material. Grundplatte = Baseplate ( I presume you have the drawings for them) Sidestand mounted with a "U" profile. Use the original sidestand. fix with bolts and capnuts. Sketch with "1": Piece of steel to limit the travel of the sidestand. Sketch with "2" Manufacture a similer bolt as for the gear lever. This concludes part one of the translatoin. I have to study the layout of the "bremsseite"= brake side and try to understand how he did this. Till tomorrow Greetz Kropatchek ;D |

Title: Re: Forward controls Post by Diane on 02/27/05 at 07:20:26 Or buy the kit here for $390.00 http://66.240.181.246/product715.html |
Title: Re: Forward controls Post by Nightrain on 02/27/05 at 09:19:26 Hey kropatchek....Your my hero! That link you posted is way better than the one that I had. It even gives details on the size of the plate. Not to mention, you can use the original bracket for the kickstand ;D WOW!! $390 for a set already built with that link that diane posted, is very tempting. The only problem I see with that kit is, I think it is only a 3" or 3.5" kit. I really 6" or as much as I can get. So I may opt to build my own. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for all of you input and help. |
