Title: employee of the muff Post by Nightrain on 02/16/05 at 16:12:48 So I get back from my luchbreak at work yesterday and find out that I was named employee of the month ;D And yes, I had to shine a lot of asses with my face to get that title. Normally this type of attention bothers the hell out of me. I have to get my darned picture taked and put on some darned plaqe. But It just so happens that the employee of the month gets a $50.00 Amazon gift card for their obedience. So how is the savage related you may ask? Well here is what I ordered for $50 bucks off of amazon http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000667N26.01-A3TNSEHBS6RQPJ._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg I never would've guessed that they sell helmets. |

Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Nightrain on 02/16/05 at 16:22:12 Nice! ;) |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Susan on 02/16/05 at 16:46:27 Very cool. Bet they weren't thinking you were going to buy a motorcycle helmet. I love it! |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by gitarzan on 02/16/05 at 22:10:06 Got brains? Protect them. Very cool. Quote:
Where I work we call that getting brown shoulders. ;D |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by DangMan on 02/17/05 at 10:21:34 Congrats ;D Since I saw a picture of a man that DIDNT use a fullface and had his whole face scraped off in an accident i swore NEVER to ride with nothing but fullface ! If someone is interesting i seeing that picture just ask, but ill warn you, its the most disgusting picture ive ever seen :-X and by god, it takes a lot to give me nausia ! |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Nightrain on 02/17/05 at 12:00:43 I want to see it. Can You email me at mcarr(at)Nelliemae(dot)com I usually ride a non-DOT, non-legal, shorty helmet. So this is actually an upgrade. I think that a nasty pic might slap some sense into me and force me to start wearing a full face. |

Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Savage_Rob on 02/17/05 at 14:02:58 I also have to wonder just what he WAS wearing. My understanding is that there is actually very little difference in protection between an open-face full helmet and a full-face helmet with the exception of the chin and that is supposed to be a statistically insignificant occurrence. I'd also bet that a lot of injuries occur because of improper size and improperly worn helmets (i.e. loose chin-strap, etc.) that wouldn't if the helmet were properly fitted and worn. |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Nightrain on 02/17/05 at 14:20:40 I would have queation the faceless man as well. Even in circle track racing, when they crash at speeds of 60 mph plus, your body tends to roll. You would literally have to be dragged to have your face scraped off. But I still want to see it |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by gitarzan on 02/17/05 at 14:31:15 If someone finds that picture, please link to it, don't post the picture directly in here. I've seen that picture you mention and not everyone might want to see it. :-X |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by River on 02/17/05 at 14:58:07 Heya, Im new here, but I like what I see so far- I had to respond to this one since I used to ride w/ a 3/4 helmet myself- Savage_Rob wrote: "My understanding is that there is actually very little difference in protection between an open-face full helmet and a full-face helmet with the exception of the chin and that is supposed to be a statistically insignificant occurrence. " Actually, its not that insignificant. According to David Hough's "Proficient Motorcycling": (In reference to a study done by Dietmar Otte) the distribution of impact locations on motorcycle helmets are: 15.2% to 19.4% (left and right hand side respectively) to the chin area. I say 1/6th to 1/5th damage probablility is a good enough reason for a full-face helmet. I keep my 3/4 now in case I have a passenger (they get choice) until I get another full-face. Peace, River |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Ed L. on 02/17/05 at 15:52:42 If you want to see some real sick pics go over to rotten.com. They have stuff that will make you puke in the motorcycle picture section :o. I haven't been there for a while and don't plan to go back. I wear a full face helmet and gear just in case sh*t happens. It's your skin and head, wear what you want but don't give me any crap about what I wear and I will respect your choice on what you wear ;D. It's all about freedom after all isn't it. Ride Safe |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Nightrain on 02/17/05 at 15:59:22 A-men to freedom. Freedom of choice baby ;D |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Ed L. on 02/17/05 at 16:29:28 Forgot to say congrats on the employee of the month and nice helmet ;), Round here we call brown nosing "ring around the collar" hey we all do it and at least you got something you can use. I could wall paper my office with all the "atta boy" certificates the bosses have given me over the years. Ride Safe, Ride Free |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Goose on 02/17/05 at 17:28:25 i have always worn a helment but i do believe it should be by ones own choice. i mainly wear one because lets face it if you slam your head into something at 70 mph helment or not you are most likely dead. its the low speed parking lot or other slow speed accident that keeps me wearing one and means you wlk awaay instead of going to the morgue. |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by gitarzan on 02/17/05 at 20:36:28 I wear one like this: http://www.helmetsetc.com/images/helmets/caliber/rodia_chrome.jpg Mirror Chrome. That way they get lots of nice attention-getting glints in their eyes. Maybe even some sun... |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by DangMan on 02/17/05 at 21:46:02 The picture seems po be removed from where it used to be :-/ Ill just tjek ones more tonight just in case ! |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by savagethumper on 02/18/05 at 13:58:57 I have a helmet just like Gitarzan's. Not as clean, though. My kids like to play with it, and it's pretty well scratched up. I also have a nice full face for the cooler days. The chrome one is a lot more comfortable, but it's too darn cold to wear in the winter. I have an unusual shaped head, so the full face cuts into my forehead. |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by gitarzan on 02/19/05 at 06:30:15 Actually that picture is a catalog photo from the net. As a matter of fact mine is shorter. Here's me in mine. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gitarzan/BikePix/50's%20PHOTO.jpg |
Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by sunny on 02/21/05 at 08:34:20 i wear a full face helmet. right now i have to replace the face shield because i was hit by a rock that left a nice deep gouge in it. i am not sure i'd have retained conciousness if it had hit my head unprotected... |

Title: Re: employee of the muff Post by Savage_Rob on 02/21/05 at 12:42:59 I was considering the full-face for the added protection (I figure any additional is good) I've read and heard a lot of great stuff about the Scorpion EXO helmets recently - both the 400 and 700 series versions. It looks like the major difference is the 400 series is polycarbonate while the 700 series is fiberglass/kevlar, making the 700's a bit lighter. I tried both on at MotoLiberty last week and was unable to feel a weight difference though. These are DoT/Snell M2000 certified and have the features, fit and finish of many of the $500 and $600 buckets and they are priced from $129 to $199. They come with scratch resistant coatings on th e shields that are supposedly fog-resistant too. The removable liners are what they call KwikWick, which seems to be a microfiber wicking fabric. I am seriously considering getting one of the 400's since this is possibly the most comfortable helmet I've tried on. |
