Title: International Motorcycle Show
Post by Susan on 01/04/05 at 13:49:53

I'm planning on going to the International Motorcycle Show on Friday 1/21 in New York. It is at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The same show is being held the weekend before in Washington D.C.

Anyone else going?

I am planning to go to the same show (well, not the EXACT same show, but you know what I mean) in Minneapolis Feb 4-6.

Since you get first crack at the show, you'll have to let us know how it is!

The show isn't coming to my neck of the woods(Tampa).  The probably know we are all too busy riding to want to go inside!

Been there.  You are going to love it.  All brands of bikes, customs, and gear too.  You will have a ball.

Julie and I went in 2003...the same place....here we are with some others in the Suzuki booth (abusing a new Savage).  And as you can see, I have a bag of goodies in my hand, and we are sporting new hats, too  ;D

Have fun and take pictures.....

Hi, I'm going to the NY IMS Saturday 1/22, would love to say hello to anyone going.

Check out the NY IMS @ Javits FLOORPLAN OF VENDORS (http://nyc.motorcycleshows.com/imsnyc/V41/floorplan/floorplan.cvn?id=17&p_navID=110) which can help you figure out where you're going, which vendor you want to find. The floor is divided into two sections, and each section has a dropdown of the vendors in it.

There's also a link for the EXHIBITOR LIST (http://nyc.motorcycleshows.com/imsnyc/V41/exhibitor_list/exnamelist.cvn?id=2&p_navID=84) listing vendors alphabetically, and noting their location on the floor plan.

For Saturday, does anyone want to meet and just say "hi" at some point during the day, share a cuppa coffee or soda?

Or, this is me (sans helmet hair, LOL). If you see me, please say hi!

Very few shows in Georgia, missed the show in Atlanta, but I plan to take a 2 wheel trip here in the spring.

Looks pretty cool.

Or you could go to the other IMS
(International Mathematica Symposium)-- No joke
No schedule either.
I think I will have to pass.

My sister and brother-in-law are going back to the show in NY this weekend.  When Julie and I went, we dragged them along as total Newbies.  Neither of them had ever ridden a bike....(they live in NJ.)

After the show they both took the MSF course and bought bikes.  A Vulcan 750 and a Savage.  The monster was born.

The sad part is that in 2 unrelated incidents both of their bikes were wrecked (not by them), and to my greater "horror" they both bought Harleys as replacements.  Darn it, I created 2 more HOGS. ::)

Well, I was planning on going on Sat but this little snow storm is shutting me down.  We are expecting 12 inches on Sat and I am not up for a 2 hour drive in a blizzard.  :-[ I am praying for lots of sun on sunday, maybe i can catch the last day.

Looks like there's gonna be a good bit of snow on this bike show....anybody going?

I went yesterday to avoid the crowds and the snow! The show was good. Lots of bikes to try. I sat on bikes at each manufacturer's booth just to confirm that I love my Savage the most!  ;D ;D

We took a few pictures but I haven't gotten them off the camera yet. Will get to it in the next few days.

Yeah, lots of snow! I went on Saturday. It looked like it was much less crowded than last year, plus a few empty vendor spots. Also, it was upstairs instead of downstairs, and I think it was a bigger space so there was more room to walk around, more room for tables/eating in the back.

All in all, a smaller turnout due to the snow, but still the bikes were pretty! I sat on the new Suzukis, some Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, drooled over the MotoGuzzi's and bought a new balaclava.

The e-tickets this year made it possible to buy and print out your own ticket, so no waiting for it in the mail. Made it very speedy to get in, even if there had been lines it would have been a quick entry.

It was fun. :D

Trust me.  I registered my disappointment in their choices, but hell, since I created the "monster" and since it isn't correct to have any reverse bias towards non-metric riders I was forced to concede.  Oh well.  At least they ride  8)

You drooled on the Guzzi's too?  So did I while there.  Sat on it and wondered.  If and when I ever get another bike, the Guzzi would be the first choice.  I can't really think of another bike that is nearly as unique as the Guzzi...just like the Savage.  A thumpin' V-twin instead.  There's just something about that automotive style engine that does it for me
::)

Wait!!!  Did anyone see and sit on the new 2300 Triumph Trident?  That monster would be a rush too.

Yeah. My husband wants one desperately. He is already a Triumph guy and is in love with the Rocket. Maybe if I win the lottery. Of course, I would have to play first...

I wish the IMS would come to Memphis/Tunica area. Dallas or ATL are about as close as it comes and I could not make it.
The Art of the Motorcycle, which debuted at the Guggenheim museum is coming and will be around April 22-Oct. 30,2005 tho. They plan a big opening ride & stuff.
That is cool and all but will lack all the latest parts, swag and goodies, not to mention the latest and greatest bikes.

GTZ,I see  the IMS was in Cleveland -  http://show.motorcycleshows.com/IMSBrandManager/V41/index.cvn.

My son Nate and I drove 400 miles to go to the Minneapolis show.  After we had been there for an hour or so, we agreed that that the trip was more than worth it.  We had a GREAT time, and I sat on so many bikes I started to get a cramp in my left leg!  Here's the obligatory Savage/S40 content:

I think there is another Thumper in my future, a Bavarian-made 650.

I went to the "Art of the MC" in Vegas, was very nice but only took me about 3 hrs and I was ready to move on, I had budgeted a whole day and don't gamble and the shows were not interesting to us that trip so was very bored and came home early. Also went to AMA Pickering musuem and only spent about 2 hrs there, would have been bad but my wife only spent 1.5 hrs at the gourd show we flew all the way from WA state to OH to see as primary reason for the trip. Luckily they had a mall so the trip wasn't a total loss. Max
