8)Paladin ... where in So Cal do you live? My father-in-law resides in Fontana.
It's a dream of mine to one day come to the States, pick up a nice clean Honda GB500 (single-cylinder cafe-style Bike sold in the US in '89/90) and Ride across the US Southwest ... I've always wanted to see the desert!

8)Well Paladin my man ... motorcycling is HUGE here in Newfoundland these past few years, caught on big time in the St. John's area where I live ... also, there's more and more m/c tourists from mainland Canada and the United States coming here in the Summer as well ... particularly the adventure touring types who are drawn to the rugged beauty of Gros Morne National Park on the Province's West Coast.
Come on up!

Great shots there, Perry.  The sky is nice and clear and the views awesome...soon I'll be taking a closer look at the Rockies, and expect to be just as struck by the beauty.

I just checked this topic...after a long time thinking that it was just moving along under Paladin's control with no need for me to look....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it  :o

That picture is actually my engine, which I literally hung up for some paint work and photographed while I was at it.  Anything else was a little massaging that I did with Adobe Photoshop.  I got it from 3 sides, too.  I also turned it into a thumbnail for my logo.

If you want anything with a photo along those lines, let me know.

Our new member, Miguel, sent in his photos -- from the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. (average temperatures 65-75 year-round, peak temperature 70-85.  The rainy season has 21 dry days/month.)

Miguel!  What's that other scooter?  And what is the flat silver on your Savage header pipe?

Fascinating.  The Dealim Daystar is available in Canada (http://www.cyclecity.on.ca/view_product.cfm?prodid=33919).  Physically a bit larger than the Savage, same weight.  How does it feel/run compared with the Savage?

Can you explain your intake setup?  How does the Amal perform?

lancer wrote:

Nothing that I can see -- what do you see or not see?

Also, not to belittle your photography, but what did you take the pictures with, a cell phone?  480x360 resolution is not suitable for the Gallery as it loses too much detail, such as what that red/white sticker on your tank says.

Title: Re: Posters' Picture Gallery
Post by lancer on 05/08/05 at 18:51:36

For a couple of days I could not get the world map to come up at all, the only thing showing were all of the individual posts...like these.

The intake is a 6" velocity stack with a microscreen filter.
The Amal carb performs very well.  Right out of the box it was good to go, perfectly adequate for regular cruising.  I adjusted the pilot screw a little and that was all.  I plan on playing with the needle settings some more to see how much of the performance side can be improved, but that will have to wait for a week or so....got to go play with a BRAND NEW GRANDSON.
As far as the pics are concerned, they were taken with a basic digital camera.  Nothing fancy or expensive but adequate for the job.

Title: Re: Posters' Picture Gallery
Post by lancer on 05/09/05 at 06:05:21

Paladin,

The little red and white sticker on the tank is a "Webcam" item (they reground my cam for me), forgot it  was even on there.

Cool.  What did you have to do to make it fit?

Title: Re: Posters' Picture Gallery
Post by bobo383 on 05/20/05 at 21:17:30

Amal is a pretty easy fit, actually. Lancer sent me the carb, intake flange, and throttle cable.  The longest part of the install was fitting the cable to the stock throttle cable housing on the handlebars - finally bushed the connection with an empty 38 special hull and then drilled it out to the size of the cable tube.

The carb inlet is bigger than the stock Savage carb, but the filter box boot actually stretched enough to be a temporary fix.  Scouting out a suitable K&N now...

Neck plasma cut ,lengthened 2 inches top of frame and 4 inches on bottom for a 45 degree rake. Tubes changed from 24 inches to 42 inches. Straight pipe exhaust. Aftermarket turn signals. Slight mod on swing arm to accept 150 x 90 x 15 tire. Frame cut right at shocks and rebuilt for 13 inch wide seat. Suzuki Intruder 1400 gas tank still uses stock gas cap and petcock, 2 inch spacers on back of gas tank to keep tank bottom away from frame. Tag and brake light relocated on side of wheel.

More to come: Tall sissy bar, 230 back wheel with new swing arm, new handle bar, round rear fender, thanks for this site,Jessec Ray

Hiya, Greetings from Ireland!
I have just bought a 1993 Savage here in Dublin, Ireland. It has 25,000 Kms on the clock, and I believe it's a german imported bike. Cost me 2400 euros from a bikeshop beside the Phoenix Park here in central Dublin. I'm a scooterboy at heart as I already own 2 Vespa PX200s and hang around with people who drive vespas and old lambrettas. Better not let them see me on this lovely "savage" bigwheeler. ;D Here is a photo of my new bike as it stood in the bikeshop yesterday...

Volunteer(s) needed to help maintain the Picture Gallery.  Look at my HTML source -- if you can understand what I did and think you can help add people and pictures please IM me.

The Gallery is an e-mail/FTP account at SavageRiders.com.  I figure a 10x (ten times larger than normal) account.  Gallery hasn't paid for it's share yet.  (all income/outgo for SavageRiders.com is posted at paladin.savageriders.com)

As I had to change tyres, remake the broken heckfender and fix other things on the bike I thought I could just as well give it another image. And a name. I've never had a nameless bike, and when this bike was green, I just could not find any. Now, that I painted her black, (also the wheels), and since most of the work on this bike was done on VERY late evenings, I found the name "Nightshift" would suite perfectly :D

edit: wonder why the photobucket-link I tried to paste here does not work...??

Seems to have done... bit of tidying work done (tool bag, front mud flap and brown leather tank cover to cover poor paint - too cold and damp for DIY respraying at moment). Some more to do...
