Title: new member Post by Neal on 11/12/04 at 09:16:59 Hi, my name is Neal. I've got a 1997 savage with a little over 12k on it. I haven't done anything to the bike except put an oversized rear tire on it which makes the speedo read about 5mph slow but it also reduces the rpm for a given speed. I have taken some 330 + mile trips with camping gear (no kitchen) and it did quite well. |

Title: Re: new member Post by Neal on 11/18/04 at 09:53:09 Thanks for welcoming me. I live near Carrollton, which is near the alabama state line. my twice a week ride is over to Mt. Cheaha which make for a nice 100 mile round trip. There are other retires that do about the same. We set around and slaughter the beef. I"ve got four bikes: 1995 kawasaki voyger, 1982 Honda GL500 Silver wing, 1975 T-500 Suzuki Titan, and my Savage. They all get ridden enough to keep the batteries charged. Yesterday I took the Honda on a trip to the Andersonville Confederate Prison. The trip was a bit over 300 miles. Got a little over 50mpg at speeds that were somewhat over 55mph. The temp got up to around 67 degrees. good ride. |
