Very interesting.  I believe this is the same company that my Corvette buddy uses for his company logo tshirts.  It good quality stuff.  I'm gonna order some stuff from there.

I'd definitely buy some of those coffee cups.  Good job.

This is interesting. I was looking at the website in detail and basically we could use them to sell/buy our own stuff. We would just have to create an account, design it and upload it.

In talking with the owner of this forum, John Himmelberger, there are some ongoing costs to maintaining the forum. This might be a neat fundraising idea. What do you guys think?

Title: Re: Savage T-shirts plus.....

It's an Idea, but THAT logo,
http://prodtn.cafepress.com/4/14463864_F_tn.jpg
really, really sucks bad.

It looks like it ought to have kittens or horses instead.  It looks like the crap they sell at state fairs, right next to the "I spoil my Grandchildren" shirts.

I beg your pardon if one of you folks did it, but it's sorry.

Susan, I think it sounds like a great idea.  I'm not picky I would buy one or more, whatever the design is.  Since I bought my Savage I just hate wearing the Harley shirts.  There are some really imaginative members here from greg's single cylinder to gitarzan's little pisser.  As that site already has some Savage products it's possible there would be sales beyond the forum members here.  In fact, if you need some help getting this project off the ground I would be happy to help any way that I can.

Their online shopping is still whacked out (maybe just to non-GB buyers) but the middle t-shirt is my unofficial Savage T shirt.

One of these days I'll remember to telephone them during their business hours and buy a couple.

HAHA..i just checked the site again and saw this
http://www.cafepress.com/savageland.14481803
It says "Just for Gitarzan "
It must be one of us.....This place is great!!!

Title: Re: Savage T-shirts plus.....
Post by gitarzan on 11/07/04 at 20:16:39

Must be!  ;D Or at least they are reading these pages.

I still think it's got to be sporty or mean or racy, not like something that looks like that.

I'd rather wear a shirt that said I © My Dachshund.  And I don't even have a dachshund.  I have a ShortHaired Border Collie and a Schipperke.  Hearty little working dogs, like my Savage.

I think I might get a Triumph next year.  Those people have taste in clothing. ;)

I wear that.  :D

the first selection has at least some design quality, the last one is childlike. remember these are savages (30 hp) not harleys. so you would be a wanna be with a black skull and crossbone copycat design

i guess it's a matter of taste, personally i prefer a small graphic on the front. large on back.

it must be a simple graphic at that..

Title: Re: Savage T-shirts plus.....
Post by PerrydaSavage on 11/13/04 at 05:41:29

Agree, that the bigger back graphic, smaller front graphic tend to suit motorcycle tee's better ... but will disagree on the "it's not a Harley, so no copy-cat skulls & crossbones" thing ... yup it ain't a Harley ... no question there ... but a more traditional lookin' Biker tee (i.e. black tee with colorful bad-ass graphics) in a Savage/S40 theme would be cool! Afterall, the LS650 is a Real Bike!
Maybe somethin' like this? Replace the "Choppers" with "Suzuki LS650", same font style ... and replace the "forever" with our "Big Single" slogan? Doesn't have to be same design, just a more "Biker" styled theme ... maybe even replace the helmeted skull with the Savage engine surrounded by those orange flames? Comments?

8)Here's another idea (just brain-stormin' folks so forgive me if this offends anyone's personal taste's) ... Logo says Loyal to ONE instead of "Loyal to none" ... below the graphic (could be the Savage engine with flames again) another banner with "LS650 Savage" or some such?

A black pocket T-shirt, a clean hi-rez photo of Gargoyle's engine on the back, and on the pocket:

"What sort of
biker needs
more than
one cylinder?"

(or)

"Big Single
and
loving it!"

How about this on the back of a black T-Shirt?

with Susan's "Savage Big Single Suzuki" avatar on the front pocket?

The art, front (http://savage.andruschak.net/t-shirt-front.jpg) and back (http://savage.andruschak.net/t-shirt-back.jpg), is available on my site.  I just ordered a ($28!) t-shirt from artapart.com and it should arrive in a week.

Will post on the quality when it arrives.

That's a GREAT site.  I put some of my efforts on a white ringer shirt.  That ought to look good.  BUT I'll wait until I hear your squeals of joy before I place an order. :D

Ain't it interesting how everyone has a different idea of what their thumper is.

Some see it as a chopper, some see it as a cruiser, some seem to think it's cuddly or something like that.  Myself, I see it as a modern classic tipping a hat back to the great BSA and Ducati road thumpers of the past.

The Shirt/Logo designs really show a wide divergence of our views of our bikes and ourselves.

It's cool.

I like that one too!   :)
Always wished for a really cool tee of the Suzy thumper, never saw one  :'(.

Black is good, preferred by bikers everywhere.
My old art instructor hated black (paint), it was not allowed in class as “unnatural, absents of color”.
Why copy the HD boys or appear as a HD wannabes?  :-/
I would suggest a choice of VERY dark background colors like Navy Blue, Racing Green, & Burgundy along w/ basic black.
Our 650 has been issued in a rainbow of colors since 86, so why not a deep color to offset the image of the fine engine?

Suzuki’s TSCC (twin swirl combustion chamber) has always been one of the best designs known.
Something to point out the efficiency of our four-valve design and the advantages over other 2-valve and/or pushrod engines, the return-to-basics bike with a sophisticated engine, and it’s elegance in design!
Good reasons for continued loyalty to our ‘trick’ 650. (or S40)
Perhaps a subtitle or banners under the engine graphic with something like
“40 Cubic Inch Overhead Cam Four Valve Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber" or if too much, like- “OHC TSCC S40”
Also, consider “THUMPS!” vs. “THUMPER” above the image.
I always try to purchase tees with a front pocket.
My dream tee would be Navy blue, have the original 1986 LS650 tank graphic “S” logo on the pocket or the "Big Single"  logo with w/ a “SuzukiSavage.com”  subtitle below the graphic.
The back would have the largest possible graphic of the engine as described above on the back.  :o ;D

Man, may be you oughta copyright that promo and sell it to Zuk’s ad. Dept!  :)

Title: Re: Savage T-shirts plus.....
Post by Paladin on 11/18/04 at 13:31:43

I cannot justify to myself trying to copyright what I stole.  If I had taken the photo of the engine, or drawn it myself, maybe -- and if I do I mark the picture as such (example (http://www.dslretorts.com/Splitter_vs_Filters.html).)

What I might do is get the design on Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, and Slate -- for wear on each matching workday of the week.   Black is acceptable any day, so until and unless I get a set it has to be black.

If you wish to modify the design/text for yourself please feel free to do so.

Got the t-shirt from artapart.com -- the shirt is a Haynes Heavyweight, which is not that heavy, and the artwork is an iron-on type thingie that is obviously added on and stiff and shiny (as you can see by the reflected flash.)  Worth about $14 -- half of what I paid.

I think I need to find someone to set it up as a silkscreen printing.

Will get a daylight photo tomorrow.

In the cold light of day I have to downgrade the quality of the t-shirt.  The back image is *obviously* an iron-on.  Will look elsewhere next year.

Paladin....... wear that shirt when you ride at night.  The flash made it look like chrome.

BTW The gallery looks awsome!!!

After a hard day riding I wiped down the engine with a T shirt, gave me a nice outline of the engine with all the dirt and road grime, it's as custom a thumper T shirt as you can get ;D Just don't wash it or stand down wind :P

Man, if just the engine and wording were available on any dark colored (and bright orange !) shirt, I'd be buying a couple.

That is the perfect design.  Maybe add in small lettering something identifying the engine - like the mentioned "OHC TSCC S40"

ok. my idea of an appropriate t-shirt logo would have the word "savage" across the front in a more tribal font with claw marks slashing across.

and if i could do a custom paint job on my bike that is what i would do...
