Title: Cruise Control Recommendation?
Post by Susan on 10/15/04 at 07:04:00

I have heard good things about Vista Cruise Lock and Throttlemeister. Anyone have a preference? Which is best and why? Or are there others worth considering? This isn't for me; it is for my husband. He has problems with his throttle hand falling asleep.  He already has a Throttle Rocker and it isn't enough...

IF YOU CHECK OUT THE OLD NORTON MOTOR CYCLE THROTTLE SET UP THEY USED TO HAVE A SCREW UNDER THE HANDLE BAR ON THE EDGE OF THE GRIP WITH A LOCK NUT SO WHEN YOU FELT LIKE LOCKING THE THROTTLE YOU JUST SCEWED IT IN. IT WORK WELL AND IF YOU WANTED TO BACK OF YOU JUST TWISTED THE GRIP BACK IN THE NORMAL WAY . THIS IS ALL WE HAD IN THE LATE 70,S . ITS A SIMPLE SYSTEM AND COMES IN INCH BAR SET UP .IAM SURE YOU CAN STILL GET THEM VIA POMY LAND 8)

I prefer the Vista. Much easier to operate. The Throttlemeister is a little counter intuiative since it turns in the opposite direction of the throttle. The Vista is a simple push of the thumb.

I vote Vista, as well.  Been using it for 3 years.

The unfortunate thing is that it doesn't immediately fit the Kuryakyn grips.  The plastic "friction ring" (terminology thing again?) is about .040" too small to fit the grip.  I fixed mine by turning the plastic part in a lathe....took about 5 minutes.  Your machinist friend can help.

This is for your hubby's bike?  Might not be an issue.

Yup.  He just has standard grips so I think it should slip right on.  Everything I've heard so far is that Vista is the way to go.

Does his bike have 7/8" bars?  The Vista comes with a 7/8" mount.  If they are 1" like the Savage, you have to buy the extra 1" bar mount...silly but true  :P

Thanks for the tip.  We'll make sure to measure before ordering...
