Title: that other Savage forum!
Post by lagagnon on 10/05/04 at 17:36:45

Not to denegrate the wonderful advice available on this forum, but readers may like to know of the "other" Suzuki Savage forum (if you don't already know), at:

http://www.heise-workstations.de/ls650/Fragen/LS650-Fragen.html

It seems as though that forum is frequented by many techos, with some very detailed advice on repairs and maintenance. Check it out...

Thats not the only other one but it is the best of the two I know of and frequent. I agree with that.

The Yahoo group has deteriorated into a flirting feel good site more than anything. Rarely much valuable anymore. A few of the knowledgeble people that used to be on the Yahoo site are now here....

Yeah, I visit all three but get the most value on a going basis from this one.  I think it kind of depends on your style and what your needs are.  And what you are willing to put up with -- there has been a good bit of bickering/flaming going on recently in the Heise forum, which is annoying to have to wade through...

As you pointed out, the Heise forum does have a lot of techies who do their own wrenching.  The format is a little tough -- it is hard to keep topics together since a new post on an old thread doesn't rise to the top, you end up having to start a new thread to get any responses.

That being said, there are lots of knowledgable folks over there and I have found it useful to use google to search that site for historical posts when I have a specific question.

Isn't this forum relatively new?  I see no reason that this forum can't be better than either of the other ones.

I know.  It became an issue of "them or me" and so I left.

I wasn't gonna name names.....  ;)

Thats partly why Jon came here too. What kind of things happened over there to you and what I saw too.

One thing I really like about this forum is that we have managed to stay focused on the bike and riding.  Sometimes we disagree on something and then we agree to disagree which is cool.

Speaking of cool, I went for a ride today and froze my butt off.  I think I need to invest in some leather pants.

Me either, but it's just as well.  This forum is more of what I had envisioned for that one anyway.

Yep, summer (whenever that was) is over.  A good set of chaps is good for cold weather.  Of course, I don't that think I'd look good in leather pants...that's a visual  :o

I view all three sites and find this the best by far, nice people who put up with me banging on about my KLX.

This might be off topic but since you brought up Chaps.... I really would love a set of Textile Mesh type chaps. Find none out there. Mesh pants yea... but not chaps.... unless I am missing something. I not into leather outside the bedroom...  :-*

I thought that picture was unique.  The guy was leaving a biker bar that is a regular hangout for Harley types.  Of course, we were there on our Savages, but it was also nice to see someone else being different.

Actually I used to work in a Harley shop in South Africa '86, Rustys Custom Cycles, Randberg.
It was just after evo's came out so it was all pans and shovels.

Not only do they have a lot of capacity, but they'd also act to protect your signals and pipe in an oops  :)
