Title: Eye Candy
Post by gitarzan on 08/14/04 at 11:52:29

I saw this link from another post here, and delved in deeper.  I love the classic looking Cafe and 50s 60s 70s look before every bike became either Harley wannabes or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle rides.

It's a Hong Kong site, so much of the text is not english, but the pictures are all you need...  Most all if not all are thumpers or classic twins.

There's the chain and sprocket kit.

Gitarzan, strikes again!  Nice photo!  That's the best Tempter photo I've seen yet.  With the exception of the missing chrome covers on the top, the 400 looks just like the 650.

Clive is right too....need to find an old Tempter to get the chain conversion

What is that round device, right above the swing arm?

Looks like a tax disc, don't know if You Guys have them.

Learned something new.  Tax disk?  We definitely have the "tax" part alright....tax comes in many forms, and ours might come in the form of a sticker instead.

Of course, I'd rather not discuss that cause I seem to keep forgetting to get mine renewed  ::)

My bad...

It varies from state to state.  Here we call it a "registration" sticker and it gets attached to the license tag.  Not too expensive for an MC in Ohio, $28.50 per annum.

Some states are much more expensive.

Sukzuki made another Tempter. It is a 650 inline twin. It was sold in the US in 1983. I happened to own one for a few years.  It was a fun bike. Here is a link to look at a picture.

You can't really see it but it says Tempter on the sidecover. I don't think is was called a Tempter in other countries though.

If I remember rightly the gr650 had a centifugal flywheel, heavy flywheel at low revs and lighter higher up, the only 'bike like that as far as I know.

You mean weights that expanded thereby increasing velocity at the circumference and load or retracting and lowering velocity at the circumference and decreasing the load....?

I'm about confused now too  :P

I really don't know, it's just a memory from my teenage years, heavy flywheel at low rpm light flywheel at high rpm, must have made for some strange sensations at the crossover point. :D

I would think the transition would be gradual.  Flywheel weights and springs.  Just a guess though.

that is one beautiful bike and what a great idea, reminds me of BSA style, especially since it' s a  single.

Yep.  It sure is.  Reminds me of the stolen Triumph Cub that I rode once a long time ago  ::)

...no I didn't steal it.  I just rode it  :o

8)Whoa!! That 'Zuki Tempter with the classic Brit-styling is absolutely beautiful! Wish they'd import those into Canada ... I'd trade the Savage on that for sure!
And that Savage custom is freakin' awesome! Reminds me of those customs that Russell Mitchell of Exile Cycle builds! Absolutely cool!
Another way cool Thumper is Honda's GB500 ... much coveted by those lucky enough to own one ...
http://www.srbikers.com/gb5001.jpg
BTW ... our registration stickers here in Newfoundland cost $75.00/year for a Bike and $180.00/year for a cage ... that's Canadian dollars of course ...
Holy cow! Here's another cool 'Zuki you can buy on these shores! Anyone know any details of the "Volty" ... that's an awesome Cafe!
