suzy i have a muffler to look at on my 86 .but it is straight out not one peice of baffle . it sounds great and runs perfect. some countrys have differnt laws so when the bike is imported it may have the carby set up for different  noise pollution.and baffels so you may have to do some home work in that area ,the only thing that makes mine backfire is lose joints so i use a gasket sealent where the pipe and muffler join.the people who live around you may not like you with a straight out system. i know mine dont like me :o

I hve a Raask drag pipe on my bike. It is the 50mm version. It sounds great. I do have a baffle in it but it is plenty loud. It is imported from Raask in Sweden. It is not a cheap option but I like the look and sound it gives the bike. I did have to rejet of course.

Here is a link to see what it looks like on the bike.

Ah.... go to town, I just took my muffler off totally! Just the short down pipe remains! And its very hard to get away with that in the UK, since mrs Thatcher had her way with bikers! :-)

A straight pipe or drag pipe is no problem, but depending on the carb, you may have to do some rejetting.  Of course, yours is a 1986, and the jetting in yours didn't get the EPA treatment that my 2000 did.

The Raask pipe is great and one piece, so no muffler clamps that will leak and blacken the engine case.  It is loud but to keep the neighbors happy, I go slowly through the neighborhood  :P
