Title: Re: Cam Chain removal Post by Kropatchek on 06/03/04 at 16:16:22 Yes, and the nut on the crankshaft is tightened with 140 Nm. Can be done with a copper washer between the gears. Nut on the crankshaft has LH thread :o. If you have the other (generator) cover off you can hold the nut on the rotor with a 36 mm offset ringspanner. Read the Clymer for specific details. Goodluck |

Title: Re: Cam Chain removal Post by Dave on 02/22/24 at 02:59:12 Placing soft copper in the primary gears to remove the clutch nut or crankshaft nut works. It is best to use soft copper and not a penny, as the penny is a bit too hard. I have been cautioned not to use the nut of the left side of the crankshaft while working on the right side. The crankshaft halves are held together by a press fit in the center where the rod pin is located, and torquing across the crankshaft has the potential to twist it out of alignment. |
