Title: 100 Mile Ride Post by Gregski on 02/24/04 at 10:00:54 Just got back from my first 100 mile ride on my newly acquired 99 Savage. Top cruising speed was 65 MPH but mostly kept it under 60, though I still feel most comfortable at around 40 as I have been riding for just over a year. Went on some back roads and even rode on some gravel. The handlebars for me are the only complaint. I am 6 feet tall and 175 lbs. The bars curl in too much, so they will have to go. I will post a PROJECT: Drag Bars when I replace them next month. I also wish I could slide back on the seat 3 or 4 inches, just because I like to be more stretched out. Highlight of the trip was a guy asking my riding partner about my bike... he said what kind is that second bike, if I owned one it will be just like it, and my buddy goes that red one is my 99 Yamaha Road Star with custom blah blah blah... and the guy goes, oh no I am talking about the cool black one... and my buddy goes, that's my friends little Suzuki Savage! LOL Just thought I would share, Greg |
Title: Re: 100 Mile Ride Post by Kropatchek on 02/25/04 at 04:24:40 Hello Gregski Nice to know you are riding. Have a look at Jon's website for other steering bar ideas. As for the seat you can raise the front of the seat with a 1"spacer and install longer M6 bolts Jon's site http://www.jonline.org/savage/ Kropatchek With the yellow '93 Savage |

Title: Re: 100 Mile Ride Post by Greg_650 on 02/18/05 at 08:50:49 You can also roll the bars more forward in the riser clamps. You'll have to readjust your mirrors, etc, but it might allow you to stretch out more, too. The previous owner may have had them back too far, too. |
