I know there are several gel and air cushion replacements.  Suzuki even offers a gel seat now.  I have actually been quite satisfied with a genuine sheepskin pad/cover on mine though.  There is an Australian outfit called Sheepy Hollow that offers a quality product at reasonable prices.  I used the cruiser seat pad and like it a lot.  It adds a cushion and it's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  Their prices are in AUS $, so check your exchange rate to be sure.

Medimum size AirHawk pad fixed things up for me. I'd recommend it to anyone with the 30 minute TB  complaint.

That looks like it will do the trick nicely.  $170 for a pad - Wow! How securley does it attach?

The cover has loops for securing it on all 4 corners. I used leather lacing and/or long cable ties to run loop to loop under the seat and then reinstalled the seat. Still could be cut off but I've not had a problem in 4 seasons. If that is a concern, might consider velcro on loops and seat so it could be detached. It needs to be covered at night or it will collect dew however and be wet in the AM.  Be glad they are $170, they were $200 in the beginning.  Smiley

Don't forget about the spacer fix. I haven't done it 'cause I did another seat mod but I know lots of guys have added spacers on the front seat bolt to raise up the front of the seat. Its cheap and makes the ride more comfortable because it stops you from sliding forward onto the tank.

the seat comes from here  http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/chopper.htm

they have lots of old school chopper parts.

i bought my seat used from jon d.  used the springs from an old bicycle seat.

the fender comes from the savage's older brother, the  81 gn 400. they later updated it in the japaneese domestic market as a 400 savage  chain drive.

the original light mounted right in the same holes as the old light. how sweet.

welcome to the community and enjoy the ride.

On my '02 Savage I finally have the seating position and ergnomics the way I want it and the ride is almost cushy.

What I did: got rid of the OEM spacers/cushions from the front mounting point of the seat and replaced them with automotive shock busings.  Used two bushings on each side.  Each bushing was about an inch and a half high. Resecured the seat and compressed the bushings about 1/3.   Also, added additional rubber shock absorbing material to the under side of the seat at the contact points to the frame.  Helped a lot but wanted more.  Added a driver's backrest which greatly reduced riding fatigue, but needed more.  Added the Suzuki gel seat and had the comfort and control just about where I wanted it.

I consider the project finished now with the addition of a fork brace and highway pegs added to the OEM engine guard. Now riding through a full tank of fuel is no problem.  The Savage now rides like a much larger cruiser, but with very crisp handling and I dislike having to stop for fuel.

Somone on eBay is selling a Cobra style seat for $150 - half the original cost.  Tell your significant other it's not to late to Christmas shop!

(and no, it's not me selling it! Smiley  or anyone I know...)

I was looking at that. I might go ahead and bid on it. tell me something. Can you still leave the Sissy bar and all on there? I would of course have the sissybar pad redone to match but... want to keep it.

Yea, you can leave the sissy bar on with those seats as far as I know - the one I got (Toba style) was a pain but would fit on with the sissy bar.  I've never heard anyone complain about the Cobra style one ever.
