The stock carburetor from the factory is designed for economy and minimal exhaust emissions ... not performance. Replacing the stock carburetor with this perfomance carburetor will enable your engine to perform beyond it's stock limitations. It is recommended that the stock exhaust system be replaced with a better breathing muffler at a minimum. Replacing the header and muffler will yield even better results. There are a number of mufflers and complete systems on the market that will work well on the Savage/S40. Many have used inexpensive Sportster/Dyna mufflers with good success. A custom designed throttle cable made by Barnett is included in the kit & is required to fit the 1980's, 1995-2004, or 2005 and later model throttle mountings. When ordering it is necessary that you include the model year of your Savage/S40 so that the proper cable can be ordered/manufactured for it.
